I'm conflicted about a purchase

I have the opportunity to get an Argentine HiPower or a Croatian PHP MV 9

My local shop has both and they are the same price. I'm leaning towards the PHP because it is so strange looking. Any one with experience with these?

No experience, but familiar with it's lineage. It was a first effort by Croatia in the 1990's during it's struggle for independence. The design had lots of issues and was quickly replaced by the HS2000. I have a first gen HS2000 and it's an outstanding pistol. You may be familiar with *it's* current incarnation as the Springfield XP series.

Unless you are into the Xp family, I'd pass on it in favor of the Argentinean HP.

Nasty, I think you meant Springfield XD series, not XP.

As for which to get, what are you going to use it for? If it's just to add to a collection, I've tended to start going towards more unusual guns lately and it's fun to shoot something different from everyone else.

Unusual firearms are interesting, but they carry the issues of not having access to parts and support to the extreme.
