I took the Incubii to the range today. "So what?" you say? Well, these 2, 22 and 16, have shown little interest in ever going, even informally to the farm to shoot. Bought the oldest a nice 77/22 for his 14th birthday which he left at one of his friend's house just before the kid's folks split and the wife disposed of all guns in the house, so he doesn't have that anymore. Youngest has been a couch wart up until football season last year, but has started shaping up physically since then. Thursday morning the oldest, who is home for the summer from school, asked if I'd take him to the range. Little brother hops up and concurs.

"Huh?" their mother and I gape...

As things work out, today is the first opportunity to get there. Took my ancient Walther .22 bolt action, one of the M44's, and pistols. Started off at 100 years with the rifles, then moved over to the pistol range as the day got hotter. In all, we spent 3 1/2 hours there. Went through 100 rounds of 7.62.54R, maybe 250 rounds of .22, 150 rounds of 9mm, and 200 rounds of .357Sig. Wonder of wonders, they both did respectably well. Younger did better with my BHP, older did equally well with my P229. Neither one of them had an adult male influence in their lives until I met up with their mother about 10 years ago, but she's a tough, independent Texas woman, but still...she's Mom. Oldest even got his range card today and is interested in getting formal instruction. Youngest is leafing through the latest Shotgun News and asking me questions as I write this. Maybe I did manage to do something right. Life is good.

Regards,
Rabbit.

We're proud of them too. You made shooters out of them. :) Now, make sure they can vote when they're 18. :D

Congrats! It is my hope my own child develops the same interests as her dad. Sounds like you had a great time with your kids (of course it sounds like your kids had a great time with their old man.)

you know what will happen now!
half your gun and ammo budget will go to them!
but im going to guess that such a sacrifice would be well worth it:D

Nice work!
My 15 year old son and 12 year old daughter are both excellent shots. It is always fun to go to our local range and shot holes in defenseless pieces of paper.

I got on saturday night the commitment from my daughter ,along with the gleeful wringing of hands, that she would go shooting w/me one of these days.So now I just have to make it happen.I really am proud that shes taking an interest, and hasn't been brain washed by the publik school system(mis-spelled on purpose) .Shes 19 next week...

.Great News.

Just started my 11 yr old off shooting a few months back and he is doing very well. :D 8 yr old wants to go , but he is not ready yet. :( hopefully soon.

Had three generations at the range yesterday :D

(my Dad, Me and my son) :D
