6. jdl357 $20

He can walk into Midwest Gun Exchange or any local gun shop and get a Taurus 38sp for about $250-$300 easily. His DUI might keep him from getting a carry permit, but should not stop the sale.

7. The Rabbi for $20=$95

I suggest whoever coordinates this send a letter with all our real names and home towns and screen names along with the gift. Obviously a copy should go to the newspaper reporter.

Actually ... we're up to $115. Almost 1/2 way to a new, unused piece right out of the chute. Cool beans.

Grampster: $20.00 = $175.00 Can someone look up a local range in his town. Send the money there?

Ooops, Missed El T's comment on page 2. He volunteered to hold the money. He be trustworthy, even tho he be lawyer. Lawyer w/guns = trustworthy.
I'll PM him or e mail him for an address sometime tonight. 7-13-05

Edit: I sent El T an e mail at 8:45 PM asking if he is willing, what is the address of his trust account.

I would suggest calling Smith and Wesson and see if they want in on the story. I think they have done this sort of thing before. Also any letter about it should come from Oleg, the listowner.

I messaged Oleg last night, stating how important this gesture would be for thehighroad.org, and for RKBA. Hopefully someone can capitalize on the publicity and get pictures of all of this to be posted on this web site.

I know I'm repeating myself, but it is these kinds of things, one at a time, that will change public sentiment about gun control.

Who in their right mind would ever want to deny an elderly man the right to defend himself in his home? But that is what the State is doing by refusing to return the man's gun to him.

Can you imagine them doing this to your elderly parents?

Put me in for $10.

If whoever collects can accept paypal that would be wonderful otherwise I can mail a check.

El Tejon..

if you forward the check to me (in his name) I will deliver it personally. I go to South Bend/Mishawaka all the time. I was just there today, and my wife works in Mishawaka. HTH

FWIW...South Bend is a big Dem stronghold and super anti 2A. Former Gov Kernan was SB mayor and forced thru lots of anti gun stuff.

that explains, it seems in part, what has happened to the man's gun. They have no intention of returning it, of course, they are doing all of this (confiscating the guy's gun) to protect us from guns and make our homes and streets safer from criminals.

Good question, El Tejon.

I'm all for getting this done. You are near him, right?

Or someone else who posted?

Can't remember right now.

While I'm all for doing this without any publicity for this forum or RKBA because the man needs help, what a shame to miss out on this opportunity.

If someone could go there, video tape a short interview with him in his home, show where the intruder broke in, the blood stains, get his own words and experience on record, I believe that would be awesome publicity for the cause of self defense and RKBA.

Or if someone can't videotape, take lots of digital photos and tape record an interview with him. Again, if the media won't report these things, why don't we do it among ourselves?

This really frustrates me. I'm not anywhere near there or I would go myself and do this.

I nominate El Tejon to be the receiver and collector of funds. We can all send him checks or what not. He can meet up with the gentleman in question and decide what he needs / wants.

Ok, I'll do it

I guess since I started this thread and I live in the area, I'll take care of it. I'll call the guy and arrange to take him to or meet him at a local gun shop. We'll pick out a nice revolver that his is comfortable with. I'll pay for it. I'll take pictures of everything (including the reciept), post them and then you guys can send me your pledges. If you don't trust me or feel that you should send me any money, then don't, no big deal to me either way. I just want to help the guy out. I'll post the photos and pm my address to the people on the list when the deal is done. Thanks for all the interest in this.

jdl357,

Now that's stepping up. Please, as soon as he's got his new revolver let us all know about and give us an address to send you our pledges.
