I just got around to reading my Shotgun News from a few weeks ago. There is an article that was quite interesting. A company is using Rock River AR 15 rifles with Hi Capacity magazines to shoot hogs from a helicopter as a control measure. They give a justification for the choice of both caliber and rifle in the article. Very interesting. The author discribes coming up on 6 hogs and dropping 5 of them. The 6th was wounded and escaped.

I compare "hunting" feral hogs with an AR-15 and hi-cap mags to "fishing" for pikeminnow with a generator and cables. Neither is a "sport", but rather, an eradication of an unwanted, non-native species that doesn't belong, that the powers that be want gone. Now, tell me why, if you don't need a round that "kills humanely" for hogs, why do deer get that "humane" .243 or bigger rule? Seems they should admit that deer and hogs are created equal in the eyes of god, and both deserve a humane death with an adequate round....or that the .223 is an underpowered round....or that it is perfectly adequate for deer. Most deer around here barely top 125lbs anyways.

Well, here in Oklahoma the question is moot as we're limited to seven rounds when in the field. I guess nobody can be hurt with seven rounds, huh?

Now, if it's an 8 round mag, lives could be in danger. Or, heaven forbid, a ten round mag, that would be disaster.

But wait, California has already determined that 10 round mags are safe. They only outlawed mags of over 10 round capacity.

So, it's only mags 11 rounds and above that are dangerous, right?

Ok, now I'm confused.

(Just in case you missed it, the above is sarcasm)
