EBR's are not "sporting rifles" and never can be. They are designed to kill and that's all they're good for.

If the government made an attempt at becoming a totalitarian state such as the one depicted in V for Vendetta, your guns wouldn't help you or the general populace one bit. You would be just as powerless.

The only real difference between a Remington 700 and a full blown benchrest rifle is the cool paintjob on the stock. They both shoot the same!

Quote: Racking a 12 will cause bad guys to flee....

Actually, I have been there and done that and it did work.

The myth I would like to stop is:
Gun control prevents stops and or prevents crime.

50 caliber muzzle loaders are perfectly legal for convicted felons to own because they don't require a background check to purchase.

When and where did registration and/or background checks for M/L's happen?

AFAIK, it is legal for convicted felons to own M/L's and cap and ball revolvers.

NOTE: I am not one; the reason I bring this up is becausethe local I-team news muckrakers have tried to turn this non-issue into an issue.

No, a convicted felon having ANY firearm is NOT legal. Saying they can legally own muzzle loaders is as idiotic as saying they can have any other firearm done via a face-to-face transaction because there's no background check there, either.

every time a police agency does something that makes the news, its always the fault of the police... they arent allowed to make mistakes, and that 26 second youtube video tells the whole story... lets crucify the bastards!!!

...they arent allowed to make mistakes.

Not critical ones. That's why they are trusted with authority. They are held to a higher standard.

MYTH: It's ok for cops to make mistakes that endanger human life and liberty.

It's not Nylon anymore, it's "Ballistic" Nylon now

It's not plastic anymore, it's "Polymer" now

You don't "use" an item anymore, you "deploy" it now, tactically if possible

The whole deal with handgun cartridges and one shot stops/knockdown power

Hollow Points are important because you are more likely to hit and over penetrate a target than completely miss it.

5,000 rounds of ammo is "stockpiling" LOL it is barely enough for a fun range trip!

Police officers know a lot about guns.

All security guards are "mall ninja's"

"No concealed weapons" signs bother criminals or deter crime in any way, they may even promote it.

Allowing CCW laws to pass will bring back the wild west and blood will flow in the strets.

Pheonix was actually talking about hunting.

Glocks are plastic and will not be found by metal detectors.

CCW holders are just waiting for the chance to shoot someone.

my favorite political myth
"guns are designed to only kill innocent people, therefore they should be banned and taken away from anyone. After all a loaded gun wont help you protect your family from gang bangers, its worthless for protection"

attaching a 20 dollar scope designed for bb guns to an old SKS will instantly turn it into a deadly sniper rifle capable of putting 20 rounds into a single hole at 300 yards all day long.

FMJ will overpenetrate everytime, however its good to use hard cast lead for self defense.

6 rounds of 38spl/44spl/45 colt will not give you the same amount of protection as a 8 round semi auto chambered in .32acp against a mugger.

always trust information gleaned from internet forums, gecko45 was soooooo reliable. Who cares if pushing 3,000 rounds of .223 in a wheelbarrow gave me 3 hernias and a dislocated disk and chronic constipation?

its really easy to polish a feed ramp with a dremel and a metal grinding disk, the 18 year old kid in nebraska on "X" gun forum says so..

We all know lies and myth and stupidity is always being put onto the internet. Its the main basis of the internet, sharing information as well as information. Its up to the reader to evaluate its reliability and to act accordingly.
Dont expect much sympathy for kabooming a .410 shotgun by using .454 casull in it because someone from nebraska said you could.

An otherwise harmless person, will become a blood thirsty maniac that will immediately run out and murder anyone that slightly elevates their blood pressure because they have a gun. And this same person without the gun would not harm a fly and should work in a children's daycare.

1911's aren't antiquated pieces of crap.

thats no myth.

women shouldn't carry guns for protection, because the will never have the skill to shoot them; more likely they will have it simply taken out of their hands by any BG.

And police and military forces use 1911's and revolvers all the time!

I carried one in the Marine Corps, and I'm only 35. We also had match grade .38 revolvers in the next armory over, which pilots could carry if they wanted to. The more you know, huh?

My internet myth is that everyone's opinion is weighted equally behind the veil of anonymity.

As a main issue weapon, I mean.

Not as "in a bin in the back they can shoot for practice along with all the lorcins and hi points".

Yeah, anonymous opinions are just that. I take them as face value, are you have problems with that?
