Interview w/ Ted Nugent - how can someone argue with this?

Draft Dodger Meme

I'm a vet. 1968-1972.

Ted Nugent dodged. Nowadays he has spent more money than I've earned in my entire life to support the troops and our RKBA. His money is very much where his mouth is.

John Kerry "served." Do I really need to explain how simply "having served" is not a measure of a man's character? How about John Murtha? He "served."

Kerry is, to this day, working with the enemies of our RKBA.

Nugent works with the USO on his own nickel, entertains the troops, actively supports their families, works with wounded veterans in programs to help them shoot and hunt again.

He didn't serve in uniform. Nonetheless he actively serves those currently in uniform.

Those who get hung up on the "didn't serve" issue would do well to examine their priorities.

Ted has a bullhorn that he funds himself, he's a high profile man with a broad range of connections, a large audience, deep pockets, a rabble-rousing spirit and he's on our side.

He spends his money defending our rights. Loudly. On a national stage.

Maybe for some, that's not redemption.

Me? I'll take it.

We need all the help we can get.

Amen to that!

To young for Vietnam, but could have served in Gulf War I. Would have if I hadn't failed physical. My initial enlistment would have been over about 8 months after that fracas started. To all of you who served or who are serving - in any capacity - I say thank you.

As to Ted and his service or lack thereof. This thread has made me aware for the first time of his Vietnam issues. And, I guess I'd have to come down on the side of ArfinGreebly on this one.

The past is the past. I did things when I was young and stupid that I regret. I'd bet all of you did also. Well, now I don't do those anymore. My world view has changed. That's part of maturity and the wisdom that hopefully comes with it. It seems that Ted's path has led him to serve in a different way, and I'm just thankful for that. To slap him in the face for what he did in his teens and twenties now that he's in his 60s and on our side would be petty and monumentally stupid.

Now, if you still want to be mad at say Jane Fonda who has never renounced her traitorous actions fine. I get that the unrepentant shouldn't be forgiven. But for those that realize their transgressions, and actively try to live life as it should be lived have some forgiveness. Trust me forgiveness is more for your sake than theirs. The hate that eats you is doing far more damage to you than it will ever do to Ted or any one else. So let it go.

I dont give 2 hoots in haties if "the nug" apoligized for dodgeing the draft, he did not stand with me in a time of trouble to defend what he now makes a big self-promoting show of. If all this liberty and freedom stuff is in his character why didnt he help defeat the enemy when his country really called on him?? I've more respect for PFC Richard Stevens a fella from my home town that was DRAFTED!!( and his father was a full bird colonel) cause he didnt "want" to fight, but after basic volunteered for jump school and was a Medic. He was killed in Nam cause he wore the red cross. Nugent thinks of himself first. "not one nickle" is his life worth.

he did not stand with me

All of the things that Ted does, that ArfinGreebly spoke of, mean nothing to you because Ted didn't share your experience. I have that right?

It's a good thing for the RKBA that Ted is with us.

He simply stopped bathing, and the feds decided not to take him as a result. I wouldn't classify that as "dodging," at least not in any illegal sense. He didn't lie to them, run, flee to Canada or refuse. He just smelled nasty and the feds, being a bunch of idiots as usual, fell for it.

Personally I have a hard time seeing how tricking the feds can be equated to betraying one's country. But then I've never understood how the draft was Constitutional in the first place. If I was told at gunpoint that I had to fight for the feds, I'm not sure I would. I don't see them as having any relationship with the nation.

My brother is the same age as Nugent. He never went to Nam because he had braces on his teeth, and took his physical in Denver because he knew they would bounce him. He was living in LA and they were passing people in wheelchairs. So should I not talk to him?
Nugent is 100% on our side, Hi profile and articulate. Lets not snipe at him.
