Iranian Speed Boat Harassment

What I wonder is how this relates to general firearms discussion.

Sigh....

I saw on Drudge that another of our Navy ships has been harassed by the Iranian Navy speed boats. The article said that every one of our ships that have sailed that way have been harassed. What I wonder is why don't we have a Predator drone take out a few of the speed boats with some Hellfires. Our Naval ships would not be implicated and Iranians would get the message.

Why does this smell of propaganda to justify another war?

This has nothing to do with our Strategy and Tactics forum either. This is a foreign policy issue and out of scope.

This is gun related.

USN vessels typically carry large caliber guns and other weapons that ought to be able to shred a typical speed boat with little trouble. If the speedboats are anything more than a nuisance, I suspect that is exactly what would happen.

My guess is the Iranians are trying to stir things up, and the US military is reacting with its characteristic restraint.
