Sorry for the annoying question but I have no friends who are into firearms and I don't know where else to ask.
I am trying to buy a short barreled 12 gauge for around the homestead land I am buying in September and a guy has a four year old "870 police"(not magnum and not police trade in but police is the model) that is in almost pristine condition he has had it in a temp controlled safe and shot about 10 slugs through it to sight in his red dot sight then kept in his safe and now he got a KSG and no longer wants it, he sent me a link and they are going for $500(plus tax/ffl fees etc) new, he is asking $350-400 for it. Is this a fair price? It does have a couple little dings but it does look like it was fired very little and is in good shape and I heard the police models are much more durable compared to normal 870s. Any advice? Also what are those things on the side that are above the trigger housing and under the rail? are they shell holders or what? thank you.
