Is Chicago Worse Than it Was?

More in the news. The "idyllic 50's" that get trotted out so often is a mythical concept fueled by the differences between the perceptions produced by the modern media cycle.

We lived there for five years while i took an aprenticeship 1960-65. Were some very dangerous parts most knew to stay out of, especially after dark.

Definitely worse than it was, just look up crime rates over years. And the Chicago police were brutal in decades past.

And on another track, I have a friend who works as a parole officer there, he would definitely say it is worse than it was.

All those news casts must be wrong

Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the USA ... how could shootings even happen there?

Chicago is more dangerous than a war zone, per capita.

I won't go there.

ISRA needs to focus it's message on ILLINOIS GUN RIGHTS - specifically, concealed carry. Their executive staff are far too focused on repeating anything and everything that comes off Infowars, and it is distracting and distasteful. That organization has a long standing tradition of tarnishing the image of gun owners in our state, and just pours fuel in to the engines of anti-gunners.

I believe it was reported that there have been more murders in Chicago this year than US troops killed in Afghanistan during the same period.

Gun violence is not cleaning your rifle after shooting corrosive ammo. Or "bubbasmithing". It's violence on the firearm. :)

Violent offenses perpetrated with firearms, is the proper way to say it.

Keep in mind, Illinois runs a shockingly high rate of murder, with firearm as the "tool of choice" in over 80% of the homicides reported.

We have a gun problem, sure. But when you have THE ENTIRE FRIGGING POPULATION DISARMED AND UNABLE TO CARRY A FIREARM... what do you expect?

We have a ban on carrying firearms.

Yet our state runs the highest rate of firearms used in murders.

Makes about as much sense as anything else in this politically corrupt state.

The current violence may be fueled by the drug connection spawned by the dealings between the DEA, BATF, and Homeland Security and a Mexican Drug Cartel given free reign to use Chicago as a distribution point in exchange for information on other drug cartels. I guess that illustrates what the administration thinks of the residents of Chicago!
