I thought it was out already?
According to Clint Eastwood in a 2000 interview, Gene Hackman was very concerned about how they were going to show the violence in the movie, owing to the rising gun violence in American cities. Eastwood, a lifelong supporter of gun control, agreed to make the film as anti-gun as possible.
The movie wouldn't even be five minutes...
1. Gangbangers in car thumping music... Uzi barrel peeking out the window (15 seconds)
2. Clint grunts a few times (15 seconds)
3. Clint empties M1 Garand into car, en bloc clip zings out in air in slow mo, through the smoke from the breech, Clint grunts again (30 seconds)
4. Clint grunts one more time, then pulls out 1911A1 from pocket, empties that into car, saves 1 bullet and shoots the 1 ganagbanger that staggers out of the car with an Uzi who utters, "I'll kill you, you law-abiding citizen who is lawfully defending his home with legal weapons while I use my illegal gun which I did not turn in last week at the gun buyback or to the government under the gun ban that took away your right to have the same Uzi I carry without a permit while you have to apply and show that you know how to use it and pay all sorts of fees." Clint pops the gangbanger in the head, grunts again. (90 seconds)
The End (all done in 2 minutes 30 seconds and with a clear message, no less)
Mannlicher said:Face it, if the movie is a contender in the Oscar race, its NOT about doing the right thing.
Red Dawn was progun. It even hinted at keeping 4473 forms on file being just as bad as registration.
