Hi all, so I've been wanting an od green baby glock. I love glocks especially the subs. I have eight and feel like they were all good purchaces because, they've never gave me trouble. I've also never paid more than 499+tax for one, which I feel is a good price.
I found an od green g33 on gun broker for 645$. Never fired, never carried. I would never consider the 600 dollar range for a glock ever. But I'm thinking since glock doesn't make the od anymore, that mabey I should jump on it. I'm guessing since glock doesn't make them any more, the od's will only go up in price but I just can't see 645+ffl fees+shipping and the money will be coming out of my "sig sauer spartan 1911 fund"
When its all said and done I'll be over 700 dollars into it. Should I just wait and see if I find a better deal or is the mid 600's about the best I'll do considering they aren't made any more?

OD Glocks are going for premiums, but I found a like new G20 in OD for $500 about 3-4 months ago at a gunshow. It seems there are people out there that do not know they can get more for the OD models, and good prices can be had. Gunbroker is good for finding guns, but prices there DO reflect what people are willing to pay.

Value is relative.

I think that price is crazy, but if you have to have it...

I bought my like new OD G30 3 months ago for $500 at my local gun place. Be patient and you'll find a good price.

I am assuming that this is a factory OD green job. I understand that that might be more sought after, but my not just have an aftermarket finish applied to one you have now?

Ever since Glock discontinued the OD frame color, they've been selling for more than a normal Glock due to supply v demand economics.

Rumor is Bass Pro Shops is working a deal with Glock to make them a special limited edition (30,000) run of Gen4 Glocks (17 & 22) in FDE with a MSRP set at around $700 and to be released around Q4 2012/Q1 2013.

I would say it is a little high. Check out various forums and see what you can find. I am sure you can find a better deal. On the other hand if you want it and have the cash, then go ahead and get it. I am sure you will love it. I just don't think more than $500 is reasonable for a Glock.

Nope. It's not dumb at all IMO.

You won't miss the money you spent in 5, 10, 20 years. If it's what you want, and you can afford it, go for it.

Its only a waste of money if you are buying it to sell it right away. If you are buying I to keep it then no. If you are buying it to sell it in 10 years you'll still probably make money. Look at gun prices 4-5 years ago vs today.

I suppose it's all relative to how badly you want this particular OD Glock. If waiting just isn't your style then pay the premium and get your instant gratification. If it were me I would prefer to wait until the right deal came along. Gives me something to look forward to when the time comes and I will savor it even more because I didn't pay too much for it.

OD is sick!

The price is higher than I'd be willing to pay, but I think I've had good luck in the past writing to a seller and letting them know that while you understand that the OD ones CAN bring a premium, and you're willing to recognize that in the price, the number he set is just too high for a run of the mill small frame Glock without night sights or a bundle of magazines. Ask him if he'd consider splitting the difference between his $650 asking price and the $500 they normally go for.

Surely you would be stuffing your check into his pocket for the gun you really want at $75 over normal cost, right? And be sure to let him know that you completely understand if he's unwilling to work something out. Also try to remember that paying MSRP on them they actually cost around $570, so if that's the only pricing he's seen on NIB Glocks before, he's really not putting that outrageous a price bump on it.

If you want it for practical use I'd say just get a black one at a normal price. If you want it for the collector value then it may be worth it.

There is more evidence that colors are increasing than decreasing on grips and slides.

To assume that OD isn't coming back is back up with less qualitative data than there is for it coming back...OD will be back.

I only own OD Glocks (for now). I just don't care for the mundane black. That said, I have never paid more than $500.00 for any of mine. I like the OD frames, but they aren't worth paying premium prices for them. I've made it clear to every seller I've bought from that I'm not willing to pay more for a Glock just because it is OD. The only exception I would make would be on an OD G20, G30, or G36 just because I have never seen one in person and it might be hard to pass on one in the $600.00 range if the condition was right.

You own eight and want to pay a premium to get a ninth in baby vomit green?

(The color description is an attempt at humor... )

If you can wait a year or so, I will (almost) guarantee you can get an OD, FDE, or maybe even a pink one sans upcharge.

Many people used clothing dyes to change the color of polymer HK USC and SL8's to black with great results. I don't know how well it would work going from black though and obviously would do nothing for the slide.

I love the OD thing. When dealers had them on the shelves most people didn't want them and now they pay a premium to get them. BTW, I do have a couple of OD Glocks I got at a discount because the dealers couldn't sell the things.
