I went to the local gunshow today and was amazed at the vast amount of emptiness (normal amount of vendors on hand but almost no victims...err...buyers) when I walked in the door :what: The last one 4 months ago was PACKED! Probably the most I have ever seen. I overheard more than one seller mumbling about going home early. It was the first descent weather day in a week and all signs pointed to there being a much larger crowd. What gives? I have to admit is was kinda nice actually being able to see everything without having to push your way through a crowd.

Once tax returns come in there will be no guns anywhere. Hell I still can't find ammo locally!

I think it may be tapering off. You can see my post on the same subject I made a few days ago. Their is defintely a saturation point for semi-auto rifles. Even if Obama leaves the inauguration firing full speed ahead for a gun ban it will be 12+ months till we see one. Not only that it will likely look nothing like the 1994 AWB as that was generally considered a complete failure and really hurt the Democratic party.

M-4 configured ARs are eveywhere now, albeit at inflated prices. The idea that they can continually sell them like they were is not realistic, that is why the major AR makers did not greatly increase their capacity.

Anyone make it to the saxet show in austin today? wondering if the climate was same as Alabama.

god no, let me say this: armscor m1600s are generally 199.99 new, a gun store about an hour from here i visited had one for $399.99 USED. i went over with it to the employee at the counter asking if he'd come down, he said how much, told him they're 199.99 new, he said "i doubt it they havent made those for years" then went online, lo and behold i was right, and of course they still make em, i asked him again if hed come down his reply was "well you know... theres the threat of that assault weapons ban and (insert stupid excuses that i dont remember here)" needless to say i left the store. Also another gun store around here, that is a bit more honest, generally has at the most 3 cars parked in the lot, well for months, even now, its always filled and its always packed inside cant even ask an employee a question either because they're too damned busy processing purchases and transfers and answering the phone, they're getting THAT much business

^=== thats another thing, ammo shelves in stores are wiped out in a lot of places

Well, I've been to two gun shows in the last three weeks (Dallas Market Hall and Big Town Mesquite) and both were mobbed. Seemed as if everyone in attendance had a AR15 slung over his shoulder (some had two), and very, very few had "For Sale" signs on them.

The AR specialty guys (Model One, etc.) had people stacked two-three deep around their table. The ammo dealers and the component sellers were doing a brisk business.

In two weeks, I saw one AR under $1000, and it was $995. Probably didn't last ten minutes. Most were $1200-1500, and many were $1500-2000. Seems as if they were selling well anyway. Stripped lowers, which were available six months ago for $69 and up? Haven't seen one below $200 lately.

No, I see no indication that the spree is over, or even abating. Wish I'd cashed in my 401k and bought a gazillion ARs a year ago. I'd have missed out on the 35-40% decrease in value of my investment, and instead doubled (or more) my money. :)

The gun shows here are still over crowded. The dealers are still trying to part fools from their money by working them into a buying frenzy with rumors and fear mongering.

No, its the fools fault also. Who else but a fool would pay prices inflated 2 or 3 times, over a non existant gun ban.

I think my area has reached its saturation point. I've been to two shops in Fort Lauderdale, Sun Coast Gun show (also in FTL), and a shop in Miami. All had AR-15's. Nobody was buying any of them. At some point, $1300 for a Stag and $1700-2000 for a Colt just gets to people. I didn't see one vendor move an AR while I was at the show. I was also the only person looking at them at the shops (not to buy but just out of curiosity. I have one.) I don't think it's hit them yet so prices are still high but I sense at least a slight drop coming soon if any of these places intend to start moving the inventory.

maybe backorders can get filled now...

I've got magazines on backorder, and plan on 2 more projects.

I noticed LOTS of ammo at the show including near full pallets of AK and mil-surp ammo but didn't pay attention to it's pricing as I wasn't there to buy ammo. The big reloading supplier who is usually at the Montgomery show was not there and he is normally pretty busy whether Obama is taking office or not. I wonder if he saw the writing on the wall and decided to stay home and watch TV instead..LOL

Probably peaked already. I think there was a major scare right after the election and people have sorta calmed down.

I guess that's one way to stimulate the economy :)

I still can't find ammo out here in Denver. I am thinking I might have to drop a big chunk of money for a case of ammo, since that is about all I can find in 40S&W. :what::banghead:

the 2 gunshops I buy from here in Ohio have just about bare shelves...guns of all types have been flying out the doors. And the reloading supplies are in very short supply too.

Don't be surprised that an excecutive order is made by Obama prohibiting the importation of all military guns.

Thought I would throw that in!
