I can't believe it, but some of my favorite AR 15 parts companies actually have items IN STOCK.

What's more, they've been in stock for longer than just a FEW MINUTES. In fact, a certain BCG from one of my favorite companies has been in stock for at least a week.

Good news - Good news.

Hope springs eternal..

It seems to be loosening up some, but I think it will be months and even years more, before we go back to 'normal' - whatever that was. This is assuming we don't have another Newtown or Aurora, etc.

Everywhere I go it seems to be, however the retailers prices haven't seemed to go with it. ANGRY FACE!!!!

not yet, but I do see it slowly easing. More firearms of all types on the shelves, but still precious little ammo and loading components. I fear it will take some time for those to recover, especially as Homeland Gestap- errr.... Security is asking ammo manufacturers if they can come up with millions of rounds on short notice.

They'll come down just as soon as the last guy stops holding out for them to drop. With the number of folks "waiting 'till things die down" you'd have be a goober not to keep your inventory at least a little above where it used to be ;)

There was tons of ammo at my LGS's in all the popular calibers today... 9MM, 40S&W, 223/556, 7.62x39, .308, etc. The prices are still high, but the stacks of boxes are definitely growing rather thans shrinking.

Our local Walmart is still only getting dribbles of ammo. It won't be over until shelves are stocked with reloading supplies in the popular calibers and powders and .22 is no longer the commodity some are trying to make it.

If your LGS is getting what they order on a regular basis then yes it may be easing. One LGS got their ammo order after waiting 5 months for it. One shop is still waiting on an order placed in Nov.

There is "stuff", but no reserve behind it. Things will truly be "normal" when distributors have a reserve stock from which we (dealers) can order. At the moment, we're basically getting whatever the manufacturers spit out. We may get a batch of S&W Bodyguards, but be out of M&P 40s, etc.

Things are headed the right direction, though. Ammunition is the exception. That will probably be a mess for awhile.

Just like last time... the AR market was crazy, and then like a light switch the bottom has/will fall out (has pretty much happened already).

Ammo and components will be a more gradual return, I'm guessing that everything will be "normal" by the fall timeframe.

I stopped in today at a couple of my LGS and two area Walmarts. Still no pistol or .22LR ammo and no ARs. So my answer to the question "Is the shortage over?" would be no not yet.
