I haven't been in 3 full months. (Down from every Monday.... ) But this weekend is going ot make up for that. Going to a private range for the whole weekend. Rifles, handguns, shotgun ALL gonna get some play this weekend!!
I've been extra busy and it's hard for me to justify the $100 in annual dues at the closest range. Plus I'm just finishing up my healing period from a torn meniscus.
I should be getting back into the swing of things shortly though. I might even join the trap/skeet league at work depending on how it affects my BJJ training.
*sigh* it's been over a year since the last time I went out shooting, in that year I've only fired three rounds through the .22 conversion kit on my mini 14 in my buddies basement (about 30 feet). the only thing that redeems this in any way is that the three bullets went through the same hole.
This past Sunday was the last for me and spent about 3 hours there. I try to go once a week but that doesn't always work out.
The range I use has a 25/100/200 yard setups for rifle, and adjustable pistol lanes that go out to 25 yards. It has never been too crowded to shoot. Not too bad for being 10 minutes down the street.
Went to the H&H Range in OKC a few weeks ago when in town for business. The two ranges nearest me, Back Woods in Denton County, Texas and the Collin County Range have both closed this year. Now I have to drive at least 30 miles to a get to a fairly good range. :banghead:
2 days ago. My Kimber .45, .280, 10/22, & .50 muzzleloader, Dad's .30-30. Plan to get back out again soon with my 1911, even if just to fire 1 round, in honor of Col. Cooper.
Its only been about two weeks, if that even. Its hard for me to go to the range though, the nearest one is almost 2 hours away. 4 hours total driving time for an hour at the range is just too much most days.
So normally its about once a month for me, but I am currently working in Nevada as opposed to my normal state of Oregon. This has meant a lot of shooting with friends in the desert, that has meant every weekend with many guns I had never shot. Recently fell in love with an M1 Carbine and feel back in love with the SKS. Also seriously considering the purchase of a mosin nagant even though that 7.62x54r round will take your shoulder off after a few rounds.
Yesterday. I'm blessed with a nice, FREE, outdoor public range about 4 minutes drive away. If I go on weekdays, I usually have it pretty much to myself. Pretty soon, the pheasant hunters will be warming up shooting clay pigeons, so I picked up one of those things with the target disks that flop back and forth so I can shoot my .45 without making everyone stop when I change my targets.
Life sucks sometimes, but shooting and stargazing make it all worthwhile.
