Been a long time since I posted.

It has been difficult not to liquidate everything and use the money. The good news is in all this time I have only sold two, a Springfield 1911A1 and a Keltech P11. Neither was very special to me or irreplaceable, so I think I did pretty good.
I am so grateful to my Daughter and her husband for the kindness they have afforded me words cannot begin to express my feelings.
Another note Today I got my gun cabinet and all of my guns in a spot down in the basement and It feels like life is actually getting back to normal.
As to which I will choose to shoot first, that depends on if I see a deer this weekend or go to the range during the week........

Mr Dig, sure hope your days are better. Also hope that you can get the relief you need and regain your independence. You did mention that you are disabled medically, and if its as a result of military service, I would recommend you contact a local veterans service office and apply for benefits.

I did exactly that with the VA because of my severely degraded hearing, certainly at least partially induced by extreme exposure to gunfire on qualifying range coverage and M60 tanks and APC duties.

A lot of M60 shells and 50 caliber going downrange and overhead.

The VA had no sympathy for me at all ,and the worst part is their cut off of $35,000 gross annual income per family. This is why you see so many sad looking souls wandering the VA Hospital grounds across America.

Even being totally retired, my income exceeds that, not even considering my wife's, who is still employed. It is a very low threshold in today's world. And absolute proof of so many disabilities is extremely difficult. Agent Orange shows us that.

But Mr. Dig, if you have not tried yet, go to the VA if you are a vet and your income meets their recorded requirements. You have nothing to lose. And also Social Security Disability is a possibility.

They came through for me when the VA did not. It took almost a year, but eventually the SSA gave me 100% disability, which increased my monthly check by about $500.

So, if you have not done so ,and are able to perhaps qualify, health and age wise, it's another avenue to explore. My best wishes that you succeed.

I do have a claim in with the VA it is in the appeals process. I have been arguing with them about this since I ETS'd in 1979. I now however have documentation that verifies my my claim from Dr's external to the VA system so the appeal process should hopefully shorten a bit.

Welcome back, brother. I can't imagine what you've undergone the past couple years. I'm glad that everything is starting to get better. Good luck with SS and VA. Getting your guns out of storage has got to make life feel somewhat normal again.
