It takes genius to be this dumb...

Ahem.
Like Standing Wolf here hasn't done something fooling to impress a girl in HIS youth

If so, I'd be willing to bet on two things:
1) It's a ripping good story.
2) Neither you nor I will ever hear it.

Well... Er... Ah... I guess I'm going to have to plead no contest.

I did plenty of silly things to impress the girls when I was in high school. Truth to tell, there wasn't a great deal else to do. I had jobs, sure, and school work, but none of that amounted to much of a challenge. The jobs were less boring than the school stuff. The school stuff was designed to keep average kids off the streets a few hours each evening.

Girls were a complete, total, absolute, fascinating mystery. I was clueless. I had no idea what to figure. A third of everything I said got laughs. Another third won pouts. Another third seemed to baffle them, or else get no reaction at all. By and bye, I realized the more I said, the more complicated situations I talked myself into. That didn't necessarily shut me up, but at least I had a vague idea what I was doing.

In due time, along came a girl who knew how to smile in just a certain way, and suddenly, even "Uhhh...?" was beyond my powers of articulation. It wasn't even a smile, but the hint of a smile.

In retrospect, I've got to figure she was smirking. I suspect she was thinking, "Well, no, not him, obviously, but he'll at least probably be good for entertainment."

I thought she was a goddess.

I can't tell you how glad I am I don't have to go through all that again!

Not wanting to drift to far OT I want to mention I just went to my 30th HS reunion. Remember all those "goddesses" that used to hang around together and act all stuck up? Well, they still act that way but NOW they're old and ugly so NOBODY CARES!!

I'm sorry, but I still find the prank to be funny.
Yeah, I have to admit that the thought of seeing it made me chuckle.

I'm sure you've seen one of the videos where someone throws a dummy off a bridge and it lands on a car below. I find myself chuckling at those too. But but a bigger part of me says that they cross a line that shouldn't be crossed. Kinda like replacing birth control pills with sweet tarts.

“While we recognize the humor, we take issue with the public alarm,” he said. “For the public to see a potentially escaped convict had the makings of a panic response.”
In other words
"This is so funny I'm having a hard time keeping a straight face making this statement, but there's got to be some kind of law somewhere against doing this after Halloween"

DC is a catch all charge that really is no big deal.
I love a good practical joke no matter who get's arrested

Our entire state prison system gets locked down for pranks like this, doing emergency count to make sure one of our "guests" didn't escape thier "suite".
As long as no overtime is necessary to achieve the lockdown and head count it could be considered good readiness and accountability exercises

About fifty years ago, me and my old '47 Ford went to the town dump with a load of junk. There on a pile of junk was the old artificial arm belonging to one of the town cops. He'd gotten a new one and tossed the old one.

The hand had a leather glove on it and it looked pretty real. I put the arm in the trunk and closed the lid so that the hand hung out. I drove all over the territory up here and not a single person noticed. [Or maybe they did and thought it a good thing that I was lugging the cop away.]

A few years ago my son drove his grandparents car with its handicap plates into a handicap parking spot. He had dark glasses on. He got out, pulled a white cane out of the back seat and went tapping his way down the sidewalk.

Total waste of time. He turned around and tapped hack to the car, got in and drove away.

It's hell to play with people's heads only to find out that there's nothing to play with in there.

pretty harmless

I think a call to the boys parents might have done just fine or not allowing him back in. Or even playing a prank like he IS going to jail to scare him would work. T'would be a nice reciprocal prank there. I have to admit it is kinda funny.

Lockdown in the jails was not necessary. A simple id check would've fixed that.

I'll admit that I find this funny.

At least they weren't videotaping themselves driving around shooting paintballs at pedestrians. Those idiots are lucky they didn't get shot.

IMHO those idiots SHOULD have gotten shot! :fire:

These kids today. When I was 18 I was doing my level best to AVOID the police!

I want to know what era and country you guys grew up in that didnt have anyone commiting extra-legal pranks.

In college, a buddy of mine went out jogging and happened to take a road that passed the state prison. Suddenly a truck screeches up and four prison guards jump out, at least three pointing shotguns. Seems he shouldn't have worn an orange sweatshirt that day, because he looked an awful lot like a convict running away. Since he didn't carry his wallet and ID in his sweats, he had a heck of a time talking them out of dragging him back to the prison and throwing him in a cell. Finally worked, but he didn't make the same mistake again!

Seems to me four hours or so in the drunk tank while they established his identity would have been the appropriate way to handle this. Dumb but funny stunt, and definitely not deserving of a "disorderly conduct" charge.

You think they cuffed him when they picked him up? ;)

Speaking of dumb pranks, anyone know what happened to that kid that jumped off the upper deck at Yankee Stadium?
