No, that stuff on liberals is completely wrong, just ask others on this board. ALL liberals are corrupt and ALL conservatives are good, decent, patriotic and true.

Personally I don't think its about control. I think its about moral status display.

Gun control is a simple answer that a manager-type can understand. It's a technically wrong answer but for reasons that are difficult to analyze. People in management and government usually aren't the very smartest. Not dumb, but not the brightest. Simple answers are preferred even when they're wrong. I don't ascribe most of the governmental instinct for gun control to raw evil, just plain, old mediocre reasoning.

The fact still remains that under the current administration, Republican House and Senate NO new gun control schemes came into being.
Now we will see what the Democrats are going to do, they have President Bush on record saying he will sign an AWB.
Do they dare take the bait? If they do will Bush actually sign an AWB?
I guess time will tell.

Re "It's not about guns, it's about control", that could hardly be more true.
Seems to me that once upon a time, some smart newspaper type observed more or less the following:
"For every problem, there is a quick and easy solution, which is wrong". As memory serves, Gun Control in some form, usually the one that attacks the law abiding exclusively, is usually touted as one of those quick and easy solutions. Based on historical observation, it's wrong too.
As I recall the guy was H.L. Menken, who by the way, didn't think much of Gun Control in particular or of other manifestations of Social Engineering in general.

Yep. Personally, I come across as a liberal conservative - a libertarian with conservative values, or a Jeffersonian, or what have you. But really, if I were in charge, there'd probably be cries of 'fascism' for a good while. At least until I fixed what the last 100 years has broken...
