Howdy, Folks
*prior to reading this take in mind that I don't have all of the facts on hand*
I think I might be really mad. I'm currently in Iraq but I've been saving and decided to make my first purchase of my deployment perk$ last week. I wanted the Romanian Tokarev and the FEG PA-63 and sent the email over to my FFL in ND. That's where the problems began. I don't know if I was unclear since I couldn't access the website from my work email and just gave a (what I thought was good to me) good description of what I wanted. After a week, he sends me confirmation of order being placed...but it isn't the order I placed...well from the email he sent me I don't THINK it's the order I placed. The FEG PA-63 I asked for doesn't come with too much so I think as a "gesture of kindness" he told me he was getting the package with 2 mags. The only package that's in 9x18 Makarov is the CZ-82 California package. So instead of dropping $100 on the gun I wanted, I'll end up paying between $200 and $260. A totally different gun and a totally different price. He already put them on order and I think my folks already handed him the cash. Like I said before, I don't have all of the facts.

Assuming my fears are true and I'm not freaking out, can you help me, THR?

You will like the CZ82 in 9x18 Mak. Double stack 12+1, DA/SA, ambi safety and mag release. I've got two and they are accurate. IMHO they are much better pistols than the Makarov's and especially the PA63.

Ah but therein lies my problem. While a double stack magazine is good, it will be my favorite little plinker while in CA. I just checked the California Department of Justice. The CZ-82 is on the EVIL list in CA, even with non-hi-cap mags. Granted upon my return I'll only have a year there (less if my orders to Norfolk get approved), but it's the principal of the matter. I said I wanted this and got that instead (well, I'm thinking it's that, I have to wait until it's night time here for it to be daytime there to find out).

Well...

I consider the CZ-82 to be a much better pistol than the FEG. However, you ordered the FEG, you wanted the FEG, and in my Alabama educated mind, the name FEG PA-63 has absolutely nothing in common with the name CZ-82. Yeah, they both fire the 9x18 around, but when you say Big Mac, you are not ordering the Fish Fillet.

With all of that said, I think you should just have the FFL send it back and order the correct pistol. While again, I think the CZ-82 is a much, much better pistol, that is beside the point. You ordered the FEG, and that is what you should have gotten (assuming an error has occurred). I would politely tell the FFL that he made a mistake, that you wanted the FEG, that the CZ is not compatible with California, and that you need the FEG - so please return the CZ.

What help would you think anybody here can give you?
Like all of us who were stationed overseas, you do what you can there & clean up the rest when you get back home.

I know of no banned list concerning pistols, that list concerns "assault weapons". I think that what you mean is that it is not on the APPROVED handgun roster. If you are bringing this pistol into the state from ND, then all you would have to do to make it legal would be to fill out the form located here http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/ab991.php and pay $19.00. I have done this myself for pistols not on the approved roster as I am an AZ resident and stationed in California.

As far as you not getting what you wanted, can't help there.

Well, thank you DPris. Thank you for your wonderful, helpful, and constructive advice. I REALLY appreciate your insight. You truly helped me put things into perspective. Gee golly wiz...if only there were more people in the world like you.

Ar,
What is it exactly you want people here to do for you?
You said you may have gotten something other than what you wanted but weren't sure, and then asked for help.
Help with what?
Not trying to sound unsympathetic, but your post was vague, and you said you don't have all the details. If you want something specific that you think somebody here might be able to help you with, get your facts straight and then spell it out clearly here.
