once this is decided as far as range to shoot at optics and iron sights and targets to use...do we post pics on this thread or start a new one labeled febuary?

How does this work, do we have to go to a designated place in person?

In the past, you would print/make the designated target, go to your favorite (or only) shooting spot - wherever it might be - and, following the rules established for the month's shoot, fire away. When done, you either send the paper copy or an emailed photo of the target to the score keeper who determines the winner.

It's pretty cool, really.

Q

Ready for February?

Guys / gals / other shooters...

Geez, I got lamed up, huh?
I'll have a target for Feb this weekend, unless y'all wanna go for that stick match... anyone remember The Rifleman?

Sorry for my absence.
(Where are we going and why am I in this basket?)

good to finally hear back from ya....checked where you been an your last post was back on the 2nd so i didnt know if you were gonna come back

good ya got a target... i broke my bipod and am gonna try something to fix it....if it doesnt work ill be shooting off a rolled blanket or something:neener:

just my .2 .....but for us .17 and .22 mag guys a stick match would get expensive real fast:rolleyes:

Yeah, I would spend lots of money with my iron sights trying to strike a match.

Well... sounds like we're all ready to get going here and just need consensus on a target. So - I shamelessly copied this entire post from Mo's June shoot and propose we go with it. Everything we need is here:

This one is open to any and EVERY 22 caliber rimfire rifle including 22 mag. This match is meant to be challenging and FUN. Hopefully it will get you out to the range and shooting your rifle.

You may enter with multiple rifles.

Scoring
Take ONE shot at each dot, for a total of 15 shots. The hole touching or inside largest dot is worth one point. The slightly smaller dot below it is worth 2 points, the dot below it is worth 3 points, the dot below it is worth 4 points and the smallest dot on the bottom is worth 5 points. 45 total points are possible.

And to make this a little more interesting... IF ALL five shots in one of the vertical columns are CLEARLY FULLY inside the black a bonus of 10 extra points per column will be awarded. 30 possible bonus points + 45 = perfect 75 score

Range
25 yards for iron sights and non-magnified optics and red dots

50 yards for any Scope or Magnified sighting device.

No iron sighted rifle...(but a friend owns a really nice one, i might try and borrow it)

The target looks good, is it setteled? 1858, is it okay for you? We are going to have to start a new thread.....

I'm gonna need to get my .22lr AR upper better sighted in(5MOA red dot unfortunatly, a bit big), since we aren't group shooting....ill see if i can get out tomorrow, but ii don't know......This is gonna be FUN!

sounds like fun, both w/scope and irons. started printing targets and halfway through ran out of black ink, is it ok to color it in with red or green?
