Jim Cirillo killed last night in traffic accident

I had the good fortune of taking his class at Firearms Academy of Seattle in 2000. He was a wealth of knowledge and a great teacher. His aim was true, and his mind was sharp. He could have you laughing so hard your sides hurt, then turn around and bring a tear to your eye relating incidents involving cops killed in the line of duty.

He was a man who'd earned the right to be arrogant and egotistical, but I saw a humble man. One of the last things I heard him say was, "I just hope I earned my salt." Several of us had to laugh. He and his son had more than earned their pay, through teaching and through service.

Rest in peace, Jim Cirillo.
