Today one of my neighbors stopped by and asked if I could give him a ride to the local pawn shop. This neighbor is a nice guy, but not well off. I don’t think he has had a job in the last 15 years and lives on disability, or something.
I told him that I was busy, had family at the house, and couldn’t leave.
He told me that he wanted to see what the pawn shop would give him for his knife, and then took a Spyderco box from his pocket. I asked if I could have a look. It was a brand new knife that had never been taken out of the bubble wrap packing. He said that it was worth over $200 and he only wanted $60.
I figured I could help him out and buy the knife, and I just happened to have $60 in my wallet. I handed him the $60, he shook my had and said thank you and left. I went back in the house and set the knife box on the kitchen counter and got back to talking with my brother.
A few hours later I remembered about the knife and decided to see what I had bought.

All the paperwork seemed to be in the box.

Not a bad looking knife.

After having a look at it, I boxed it back up and put it in a drawer.

Nice. Yup, found asking prices as high as $400. Looking at the ones with bids, it appears it wouldn't be hard to sell one for over $250

The m4 smock just came out, like a week or so ago. He would have had it in his possession for maybe a day before he wants to sell at a ridiculously low price. Something is not adding up here.
