OK, first I tried my Walther P99 with IWB holster -- Too uncomfortable. Then I tried the P99 with an OWB paddle holster -- printed too much. Next, I tried my Taurus 85 titanium with IWB -- again, too uncomfortable.

The third time was a charm. I've had my eye on a Glock 36 for a few years now. Tonight I finally did it -- I bought the Glock. The 36 with an Uncle Mikes Sidekick OWB holster is the perfect rig for me. Comfortable enough for carrying all day, more than enough knockdown power, and the holster holds the gun close enough to me that the entire rig virtually disappears with an untucked t-shirt.

Just thought I would pass this along for others who are struggling to find the right combo. For me, I couldn't ask for anything better

The Uncle Mike's rig is fine for the money, but after some time you'll fine that it won't hold the gun in the correct position as the loop for your belt to go through stretches easily.

Eventually go with IWB. You lose some comfort, but with a good holster and belt it'll help.

I could never see myself carrying OWB as I'd be worried about wind pulling up my shirt. Maybe just me!

I'm not particularly fond of Uncle Mike's I carry a full size 1911 in a Galco IWB and I have no problems with comfort.

I found my perfect combination back in the mid-late 90's when I received my electroless nickel K9 with complimentary DeSantis nylon holster (a simple, yet incredibly effective design). I've been using this combination for over a decade and it's all second nature now. I dread the day I need new leather for it, though it doesn't appear to be any day soon.

I'll chime in here too. I think in time you're gonna find something you like better than the Uncle Mike's.

I have the G36 as well, but I've just never really cared for it. To each his own.

better holster?

A couple of folks have commented on the Uncle Mike's holster. I agree, it's probably not a long-term addition but I was very pleased at how close it held the gun to me. I can see how it could, and probably will, wear out over a relatively short period of time. That being said, could someone recommend a holster of a higher quality that I should look at? Galco and Bianchi are on my list, but what others should I consider?

Congrats - everybody has their own "perfect" for them - glad you found it. I've got several iterations of perfect, depending upon conditions / carry method:

1. Pocket carry: Probably will eventually be the Boberg XR9 with ??? holster or pocket "bumper". Right now it's a bobbed Taurus 85 .38 spl snub in a Don Hume (OWB holster acting as a pocket holster)

2. SmartCarry: Kahr MK 9 with extra mag.

3. OWB w/ covering garment: CZ 75 compact PCR in Gould & Goodrich paddle holster.

4. Tuckle IWB w/o covering garment - "Deep concealment": Sig Revolution GSR compact (4"), in Mitch Rosen "Workman Express"

And I'm sure these will still further evolve as time goes by.

FIST

I really like the look of some of the FIST OWB holsters and I've read more than a few positive posts about their product line. I'll add them to the list as well.

+1. FIST. But I use the IWB ultra thin kydex, forward cant. It's adds virtually zero to the width of the gun with great retention. I don't want to sound like a company spokesman here, but I have bought about 12-15 of them. They're excellent, though they won't hold up as long as heavier leather holsters. Course they are a lot more comfortable than those heavier ones too.

In fact, I just ordered 2 more of them this very day.

Pocket carry seecamp 32.always.S@W m@p c.pocket i .have big pockets .;)
