Police model and she’s now the cat’s meow. I’m a tactical midget and just couldn’t get comfortable with the factory synthetic stock. I bought the SpeedFeed short stock but quickly returned it after seeing the pimpy gold “SF†logo. The Hogue overmolded 12†LOP just made shouldering and cheekweld so much easier. I feel like a man again! :)

Installation was interesting. I didn’t have the forend wrench and expected this to be the worst part of the installation. Surprise, surprise, the nut just twisted loose easily using a pair of needlenose and a squirt of Kroil oil. The cheapass washer that Hogue supplied is a little wide to fit nicely inside the stock. My friend used a bench grinder to square off the sides and that made it perfect. You will need a 7/16†socket head and a long socket extension to mount the screw. That was it.

Yes I installed the same stock on my Mossberg. My advice is to watch out where you place your thumb or you will get a nice fat lip when you fire off some full power slugs.

I ordered a Hogue 12 lop stock and limbsaver r2 pad for my 870 last night. Ive been looking at for one a while, but kept forgetting to order one. Your post drove me to it :).

Beat me to it.

Going to feel awkward to put shooting thumb on same side as trigger finger.
Suggested by many to do this with a regular stock,as well even if thumb doesn't hit face / lip.

Some feel a Palm Swell helps to better get trigger finger in line with finger, seems to alleviate the awkwardness of the thumb in the new position as well.

Try moleskin to build up the palm swell and see what works best for you. If if it works , and get to thickeness and shape, cover with electrical tape ...slick and less prone to slow one down on transitions...

Will NOT affect the weak side shooting...since less is shot that way anyway...

Coming late into this thread...

Is the pistol grip area of the Hogue overmolded stock significantly thicker in diameter than the Remington factory stock?

Thank you.

I'd say so, about a 1/4" or so. I really like the Pistol grip on the Hogue.

I just got one and would agree that it's a great looking and feeling stock. Too bad it's way too short for me and I'd bash my nose every time I fired!

How much longer is the "STD" length Hogue? If anyone is looking for a shorty - drop me a line......
