Just ordered first AR-15

Well I went ahead and decided to get the AR bug. I went ahead and ordered the RRA Tactical Operator 2. Going to get a Magpul rear sight for it too. I think it's a pretty good deal for only $1000 and that was my budget.

Thanks, Sky. The wait for this thing is going to seem forever. Hopefully it won't be too cold outside yet for me to get it sighted in. Speaking of which, how far away should my target by when sighting in the AR? 50 yards?

25m/300m is a standard zero for AR-15 carbines.

Yes just get on paper at fifteen or ten yards depending on optics or iron sights and your eye sight. If you go to 25 for your dime size shot groups (?) that will give you a point of impact or zero at 300 with very little adjustment....50 will give you a 200 point of impact (POI). Get it and go waste some ammo!!

Would recommend getting some breakfree clp from wally world and when you get the gun before you run out the door to shoot; do a general tear down/inspection and lube job on it. Have fun!
