So I just added another to my safe. I wasn't looking but the price was right (under 100 shipped to me) I couldn't pass it up. Especially after reading Jeff Coppers stuff for the past few years.

Its a Mosin M44, with a bubba'd scout rail that fits ruger rings, bubba'd stock and the bolt is modded to cock on closing.

I'll probably go with the vortex scout scope as an optic. What are my options for a stock? Also looking for whatever suggestions anyone may have to turn this into a nice little scout rifle.

Boyds has stocks for them. Ive got a boyd stock on my 700 and really like it. ATI also has their synthetic stocks.
Richards microfit also makes stocks for them, and the only bad things ive heard about Richards stocks....were about the ones for the nagants. Ive never owned a Richards stock, much less for a nagant, so i cant say from personal experience.

Poke around the forum a bit, theres ben quite a few threads regarding the nagants lately.

Im looking at doing a scout build too, but most of the mounts for the M44 just replace the rear sight, are they pretty stable?

I really like to look of the ATI stock, does it fit the rifle without much modification?

There is a bolt mod you can do. I don't know much about it other then what I pulled online.

That's a rattle can finish:D I won't complain I bought the rifle for 50 bucks with Ruger rings.
