Back awhile ago I was talking to my roommate and somehow the discussion of guns came up and he mentioned that he was offered one by a relative years back but he declined because he knew nothing about them, I mentioned to him that I had great interest in guns and we talked a little more about them.
Fast forward to today, I was talking to him and we got on the subject of the VT shootings and such. He mentioned that he would like me to help him choose a gun for home defense for his family that lives out of state (he works here) as of currently they own no guns and he wants his family to have protection while he is away.
Like I said, he doesn't know anything about guns so I just spent the last hour and a half talking with him about everything I know on the subject and about self-defense to get him familiarized and tomorrow we are going to the gun store so he can look for one he likes.
I can't say I converted him or anything, I can only guess that maybe people are starting to open there eyes that there is real danger out there and you cannot always rely on the police. I know it's not much but I think it may be a start.
