Well as the title says I just traded for model 19 it's a -3 with a 2.5 inch barrel.
I traded straight across for it with a Kahr CW9. How do you think I did? The gun has a faint turn line on the cylinder but other than that it's in perfect shape. no box or papers.

Sorry no pics I don't have a camera.

I don't know much about autos, but the 19 is one of the best 357s ever made.

I would have did that deal in a heart beat. Congratulations and have fun with your new weapon. Let us know how she shoots.

Thanks skidder,

Hopefully I can get out this weekend and put some rounds through it. I was really looking for a speed six but I think I'm going to be happy with this 19.

One of the best handguns ever made, and certainly one of the best serious concealed carry revolvers. I bet it's beautiful, too. Congrats!

Congrats on a fantastic trade! Anytime you can come across a highly desireable Model 19 like that and trade for it with something that is current production and could be easily acquired again; well you've done very well indeed!

I dont think you hurt yourself in that trade... a very nice snub 19 brings close to $550 across the counter around here... they make Kahrs everyday.

I carried one for the entire time we carried revolvers... Excellent weapon. I had mine equipped with the "Jordan Trooper" stocks from Herretts... Made a huge difference for DA shooting.

My own 19-3 was one of the first guns I got when I got into shooting. It'll be one of the last to go when I'm not able to enjoy the sport any longer. If you find you get along with revolvers at all you'll very likely find that the K frame guns fit and balance nicer than many other options.

As the others have said. Kahrs and the like are like busses, another will be along in a few minutes. A NICE older K frame gun doesn't fall into your lap every day.

That was a good trade. Those Kahrs go for about $350 used around where I am; but you can't touch a 19 for that.

I have a couple of 66's that I have carried for many years. Both have had oodles of full house put through them and still haven't worked loose. Great pieces, and glad you got that great trade.

Thanks for all the replies. I do hope to replace the Khar when I get the funds together but nice model 19's don't come around everyday so I'm glad I made the trade. I just need to get out and shoot it now.

Thanks skidder,

Thats funny, because I was looking for a 66 (stainless 19) when I found my Security Six. I used have a 66 back in my 20s, but traded it for who knows what ?:banghead: I'm happy with my Security Six; it takes away some of the :banghead:. Remember not to trade that thing, or you'll end up..... :banghead:.

I owned a 19-4 for almost 30 years, my favorite S&W. I've never owned a revolver that points so naturally. I no longer have a 19 though as I've gone to the model 66.

Well guys I just had a gent at a gun shop hold for me a 2 1/2 19-5 nickel .357.

Not a scratch on it. The front sight does not have a red insert but for all I know they didn't have that option yet. Plain S&W wood stocks.

It's 100 percent tight. No end shake, crane shake, cylinder shake. Shot a little but sure wasn't much. Sights set dead in the middle so I hope it shoots strait on (my three S&W 66s snubs do!)

$349 + tax is his asking price so I guess it will be $375 or so when I pick it up Thursday.

I'm a fool for snub K frames!

This one came from a gentleman from whom I bought two S&W's. I met him at a gun show, and struck up a conversation, him telling me that he wanted to sell them. I offered to buy them from him, but only after he had taken them around to at least three tables. I met him a half hour later, and ask him about the offers. I had written my offer on a card, and told him I would pay him that amount for both revolvers. His best offer from the dealers was $525 for both. My card read "$850". Guess who took the pair home? One was a Model 686 (no-dash), with the "M" recall; and the second was a Model 19. Here are the pair together. Yes, 1980 was a very good year.

pendennis,

That was a fair price you gave him. Most others would rook them for every last cent.

$850? $425 each. Good price on both and he got a fair deal do! I don't trade to dealers unless I see something I know is worth more. Sadly at gunshows that rarely happens!

You did well. Fifty years from now, your M19 will be worth far more than the Kahr. Plus, you will have the fun of shooting it without having to bend over to pick up your brass....now THAT is something to consider, especially as you get older!!
