I consistently shoot a little bit low with my Kahr CW40... Only a couple inches at 15 feet or so if I'm really trying or sometimes quite a bit more (a foot or so low) if I take more casual shots. I never really thought much of it--figured it was me, somehow.

However, while dry firing recently, I noticed that if I have the sights lined up perfectly, after the the trigger is activated, the front end of the gun drops. In other words, while the sights are lined up before the trigger is squeezed, once it breaks, the front sight is lower than the rear sight. I've tried this over and over again with the same result... Similarly to at at the range, if I try really hard to take my time, it only lowers a little bit, but if I squeeze the trigger more casually, it drops more.

So is this normal for Kahrs? Is it just their double action trigger that is the culprit? If it's me, what can I do about it? I've never experienced this with other firearms.

Any help would be appreciated.

As the trigger is pressed, the cam rotates and pushes against the rear of the strker mechanism and safety. This can cause the rear of a Kahr to rise slightly. Most peole however aren't able to shoot well enough to have this impact their accuracy. The Kahr line, as a whole, are "accurate enough", but none are target guns. However, a few inches off in 15 feet sounds like more inaccuracy than a bit of slide movement is accountable for. Let someone else shoot it and see if thet get the same results.

It isn't the gun.

Without seeing you shoot, it would be pretty much just a guess. In my experience, you are more than likely tightening the gripping fingers of your strong hand as you press the trigger to the rear.

You can test this by floating you strong thumb in the air as you press the trigger back. If your thumb starts coming down, you're milking the grip

What ever you do don't tell Kahr you ever used a reload, they will void your warranty. Make sure you tell Kahr the right story from the start as they do not like to honor their warranty. Its also a crap shoot if they will pay for a return post for your gun. Do a google and you tube search and see what you get with kahr customer service, there are two in particular that show the owner dialing and talking to Kahr and getting poor service even after he had just got it back and paid to ship it and it did exactly the same thing. Kahr CS if not worth relying on. If you get a good one fine, but if not your are SOL.
