Kahr or Glock?

P7? Nothing like packing an expensive and difficult to replace piece that's larger than both a Kahr or a sub compact Glock.

I own a Kahr MK9 and its an excellent sub compact carry pistol ... although I'd choose a Glock 26 over a polymer Kahr if nothing else because of the extra capacity (steel Kahrs are my preference though).

Glock, Glock, Glock. Incase you don't get it...in a 9mm get the Glock. 17/19/26/34 all will serve you well. They're accurate, dependable and practically indestructable. Easy to maintain and parts are readily available. You should be able to get them for between $450 and $599 depensing on gun and sights.

Caveat..Try both. If you find the Kahr fist you better then get it but I'd get the GLOCK every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I do have big hands. I carry a Taurus Millenium Pro 745 and I love it. I just want something different for fun and the extra capacity is a an attractive feature. I appreciate the comments. I lean towards the Glock, because of this, but I think I like the look of the Kahr better, but price wise Glock is a few buck cheaper, at least over here in Utah.

Now that someone brrought this up, I also kind of look at the XD series, but I do not see why they are as expensive as the Glocks. I think I will go with a Glock before the XD, however the XD has an awesome look. Too many options!!!!!

I liked the kahr I had, exept for the looong double action trigger pull.
I like the trigger on the glock.
Go glock.

I have a Kahr P9 and a Glock 26 and like them both. The Glock has several advantages over the Kahr, much better trigger, more capacity in the magazine and the Glock is easily customized (triggers, sights etc). The long trigger pull on the Kahr requires (at least for me) a lot of practice to shoot as well as a Glock. You can't go wrong with either but I would lean toward the Glock.

My Kahr went back to the factory 2x...

They suck, etc (look up my rants, I'm not gonna go into it.)

I'm not that big a fan of Glocks... but I must say one thing... THEY WORK!

The thickness of the Glock can make concealment a bit of a challenge.

The spotty quality of the Kahr makes buying one a crapshoot.

I own a Kahr P9 and it works fine after a trip back to the factory for repair. I use it as my CC gun, but I wouldn't buy another one. A gun that expensive shouldn't have such a high rate of failure when brand new.

Both. Summer carry is in my front pocket with a KAhr PM9. The rest of the year, it's one of my Glocks IWB or OWB depending upon situation for cover garments.

If you only have $400, buy a used Glock. You can sweat on it, neglect to lube it, and buy cheap used or new mags at 15rds for around $15 for them.

If you have money, buy a Kahr. It is a great little single stack gun.

I own and carry both. The Kahr is so slim that it is pretty darned appealing.

The G19 is a proven utility gun.

I have both a G19 and a kahr K40. For a small, single stack, CCW pistol, that packs a good punch get the kahr hands down. Don't get me wrong I love my glock, but the kahr was designed as a small gun from the ground up. The mini glocks are just chopped versions of their bigger guns.

Kahr would be my pick for size,
Then XD for reliability,
Last Glock for being too FAT!

Have a couple PM9's and a Glock 27. Had a G33 at one time. Glocks are good guns but Ive always been just lukewarm on them. Between my 2 Kahrs and my friends I think we have had maybe one failure in about 2k+ rounds and that was when I accidently hit the mag release buttun when I was shooting it.

I just prefer the the Kahr for ccw because of its thinner profile. Its just as accurate if not more , and just as reliable as any of the baby Glocks I have.

to me they aren't really comparable. The whole thing about something like the PM9 is the thin/small/concealable thing. I love my XD sc, but for the most part if I can wear it, I could also wear one of my commanders. It, like the glocks, is limited the most by thickness and to some degree weight. The kahr and the lighweight j frames can be pocket guns, or ride an ankle pretty comfortably. You start getting into the glocks and xd's and those things aren't happening nearly so well.

I'd take an xd over a glock anyday, btw--much better grip angle/ergonomics for many people, added safety of the grip safety, same reliability and ease of operation. Try them both if you can--for most people the grip angle either works or doesn't on the glocks. If you're like me and are used to 1911's, the xd is much more natural.

Whichever feels best to you.

Glock has a slightly better rep for reliability and rust resistance.

Kahr is thinner, but of course, you give up some mag capacity.

I don't use a mag extension and that fat little spare Glock 26 mag fits perfectly in a small cell phone case so I can wear the mag right up front on my belt.

I like it.

Glock don't make a subcompact

You said you wanted subcompact right. There is no choice between the two because glock don't make a subcompact. My kahr fits nicely in the pocket of my summer shorts, and goes everywhere I go. For hot weather its perfect. I have nothing against glocks. (Although I do have something against the people that say GLOCK GLOCK GLOCK automatically to any question asked on here) What is with glock people? You gotta have some awful big pockets and or extremely baggy clothes to carry a big fat, so called "compact" glock. For cold weather carry a full sized pistol. Even an almighty, bow down before its glory glock if you wish. Follow the first rule of a gun fight. BRING A GUN. Of the two you mentioned Kahr is the easiest one to bring.

I have two Kahrs myself, an E9 and a PM9.

How do you plan to carry the gun? If it is to be carried in a belt holster, the Kahrs, while slimmer in the grip, are really not much easier to carry than the Glock with its extra ammo capacity. If it is for deeper concealment, e.g., pocket or ankle carry, even the "subcompact" Glocks are much too thick, bulky and square for this, IMO, and I greatly prefer the Kahr PM9 for such carry. I bought, then sold a few months later, a Glock 27 because it did not meet those needs, while the Glock 19 (now supplanted by a S&W M&P9C) was just as easy to carry in a belt holster for those times when I want to carry thusly.

I've had both and still have my Kahr P9 Covert - slim, adequate capacity, and a very smooth trigger. Yes, the DAO pull takes some practice, but I prefer a slightly longer pull in a carry gun. The Kahr is quite accurate and I found an AGrip (http://www.brookstactical.com/) helps keep it in my larger hands. Good shooting!
