Keep it or not? Update 3913s future

Let me start by saying that I am relatively new to handguns so advice from your experience would be great!!

I has a S&W shield first pistol and liked it, but was shooting at the range and not carrying it. So, I decided to put it up for trade for something a little larger. I ended up with a S&W 3913 like new box and all. I have shot it once and it is a good shooter. I have liked what I have read about the CZs but, not common in my parts. Today The local shop had a PCR and when it was handed to me WOW it felt great!! I really dont think I would want to own both because they are pretty similar. They are interested in taking the 3913 in on trade and without seeing it said trade value is about $300. I feel that might be a fair offer but could get much more on a private deal. Since The PCR is not a common pistol (around here)I was thinking of putting it on layaway and offing the 3913 in a private sale or trade. I was not able to compare them side by side but do seem similar in size.

Thinking of pros and cons
Smith is a little thinner so if down the road I want to IWB might be more comfortable, but holds 2 less rounds here in New York.

Smith might be "collectible" and might be hard to get another one like it. I do shoot often and parts and accessories for the CZ might be easier to come by.

Thats all I can think of, anything else I should consider?

So the question is, if I were only to have 1 which would be better?

Keep that 3rd Gen Smith & Wesson! Nice ones like yours are getting like hen's teeth!

I let a 3913 go in a trade years ago and have regretted it ever since. A LGS had one for sale about a year ago for $800. Only one I have seen lately. No way would I let that go. Save for the CZ.

I have to agree with all those who say keep the S&W and save up or see if they have layaway for the CZ.

Update I bought the PCR on a clean deal and will figure out what to do with the 3913 at a later date.

It should be a fun night at the range Saturday night. I should have the PCR and it will only be the second time out with the 3913.

Good move.

In my experience, it's almost always true that a person is never more sure about wanting to trade something away than before the trade actually occurs.

If there's uncertainty before the trade, there's likely to be more after the trade.

Based on a lifetime of losing money when trading guns, keep what you have and wait until you can buy what else you want. It's impossible to come out on a deal with a dealer when trading, and rightfully so. It's their livelihood; they have to make money.

But I know how it is to get the itch. I tell myself I really don't care for this gun I have, even though nothing is wrong with it, and I really know for sure I want the one in the shop. So I traded and lost. Never again. I think trades are great when it's among friends or family or someone who will treat you well.

Will I did by the CZ PCR outright, thanks for the advice.

I took the PCR to the range and love the way it feels and shoots. So, I dont feel the need to keep the 3913 it is up for trade locally and hope to add something different to the collection.

Congrats on your new CZ. Somebody lucky in your area is gonna get a great 3913. They are not super hard to find. But usually showing their age, and never with the box, etc.

Sure would like to see some pics of it before you let it go.

Thanks,
