The LCPs look to have vanished. Buds is totally out. I posted another thread asking if anybody knows why.

I am sorry to all the KelTec fans, but KelTec pistols are generally unreliable.

I owned a P11 a few years ago and sold it. All it ever did was stovepipe.

Oh bull I have 6 KelTecs these go back 10 years or so wife and 2 daughter's carry P-32's

Pf-9 get a lot of carry as does the P-3AT some times I replace my 380 with my P-32 . That was my 1st KT . Stove pipes and P-11 lot of time shooter and limp wrist. Just because you had a problem. Doesn't mean every owner does. So don't say generally unreliable. . Yours might have been gun or you. . Next on my list is a P-11.

Now for the thread Keep the PF-9 you will regret selling later.

I'm not a huge KelTec fan, even though I own one, but I'm calling BS on this statement. They are a cheap gun but I have a couple friends that own them and all of us have had great luck with them. Not sure how they work so well but they do, at least in my experience. Maybe we just got lucky.

Wow, just because a gun doesn't cost a lot doesn't automatically make it unreliable. There are 4 Mel-Tec positions in my family and all 4 have been 100% reliable or they wouldn't be carried. We have a P-32, a P-3AT, a PF-9 and a P-11. I own the P-32 for over 8 years now and I just recently bought the P-3AT. My son owns the 9mm pistols. All are reliable...

My P3AT has been 100% reliable in the five years or so I have owned it.

Here is another idea for the OP. I used to have a steel-framed snub 38 similar to your Model 85, but I found the weight mildly annoying to carry. After it was stolen I replaced it with a light-weight alloy framed 38 snub. That thing is no problem at all to carry. I can walk the dog or what have you and don't even notice I have it on me. It is hammerless and won't snag on anything. If you like snub 38's, a lightweight version might be something for you to consider.

So, now about a month after my initial post, I'm leaning towards...neither.

I have wanted the Kahr PM9 since it came out, I've also liked the Kel-tec P11 for about a decade and a half (I should have bought one instead of the Pf-9 when I got my Kel-tec). I'm thinking I will sell both the Kel-tec Pf-9 and Ruger LCP (as well as my S&W 442) and use the proceeds to either buy a PM9 or buy the P11 and put the remainder in my house down payment fund.

I may wait until I buy a Glock 27 before I do either though. I don't pocket carry much, and so I may be well served by my heavier Taurus 85, Rossi 461, SIG P290 and future G27 for such occasional pocket carry. Then again, while I don't pocket carry much, I don't live in a carry state so when I do pocket carry it isn't for a short run to the store. I'll be out of state and I'll be toting it around pretty much all day and so I may need a light pocket gun or give up pocket carry altogether.

The Keltec and Ruger LCP are products of the CCW craze. Their DAO triggers re fine and all, but they can't keep up with the newer pistols that have recently appeared. The reason they're disappearing from better LGS's is because of the better new options, and many CCW'ers are swinging back to larger, more practical carry pistols, like 4" compacts.

IMO, the Kahr PM9 is not much better. Sure it's way higher quality than either of those, and it's trigger is much, much better, but the shot timer doesn't lie. I didn't find it any more effective.

Go the Glock 27/23 route that you interested in, for now. After shooting that for a while, If you're still confident in the slower Keltec or Ruger, then look towards the Kahr. Pocket carry stinks though. Try a Crossbeed Supertuck. The 27 vanishes in one of those.

The LCP is a refined P3AT. If I were in the market for a true pocket gun it would be my choice. As I have two P3ATs that are reliable, I'm not in the market. I also have a P-11 and a PF9. The PF9 is a much better choice for carry than the P-11 IMO. Any small gun in 9mm, or even .380 is not going to be a gun you want to shoot all day at the range. I carry a Glock 27 AIWB as easy as the P-11, and it's a hell of a lot more gun. The PF9 with a belt clip is also a good AIWB gun. My wife carries one daily, and shoots is pretty good. For me, between the LCP and the PF9, the choice would be easy, the PF9 AIWB. If I were going to a larger capacity pistol for concealment, it'd be the Glock 26/27 or the Kahr. The P-11 is my least favorite carry 9mm.

If I give up pocket carry I will still get another pocketable gun. For all intents and purposes I have already given it up (I haven't pocket carried, other than dropping a snub in my pocket before answering the door, in years), but I like to have something available for that role if ever IWB won't be enough (thus my current search). Should I decide to permanently abandon it, I have several pocketable guns (which I could drop in my pocket for short-term pocket carry should MD join the rest of America on CCW or if I ever do move), and such guns, like my snubs or SIG P290RS, disappear as completely with a tuckable IWB as they do in pocket. However, one niche gun for that that is missing is a .40 (I would like a big bore that would fit that role). So, if I decide to abandon pocket carry, the Kahr MK40 would rise to the top of this list, though I'd also look at larger, less pocketable, but still single stack .40s that would be just as invisible with tucked IWB carry (such as the K40 and S&W Shield).

As for the Supertuck, I do like the hybrid holsters. I have a similar "winged"/2 clip hybrid from Theis for my P290. It would be great if I lived in a carry state and could carry from my front door, and is great when out of state for several days and can carry from my camper or hotel door. However, it is a pain to get on and off on the fly, so driving from home in MD with the gun and holster in the trunk, getting to VA, DE, etc and then holstering and arming myself is a PITA. So, when I got a holster for my P250C I went with a single clip hybrid and I also bought a quicker on/off tuckable IWB for the P290. If I could carry from the moment I leave the house, like people in most states, the double clipped "winged" hybrids would be my first choice (though I do prefer a few brands other than Crossbreed).

Old thread- OP here, here is my decision (please don't answer the original question)

Sorry I disappeared for a while. In case anyone is interested in what I decided, here it is...

First, I haven't sold either yet (I waited some time to ensure I didn't change my mind).

I am definitely going to trade or sell both guns (plus others that are for a similar role: I already knew my S&W 442 was definitely going to go, and either my 2" Rossi 461 or my Taurus 85CH, and maybe both, are also going to be sold). When I'm in a carry state, I always go for IWB (usually tucked) carry and I haven't done pocket carry in years. If I ever change my mind about pocket carry, guns in this class aren't exactly that terribly expensive, and maybe I would go for my first choice in that class (a Kahr PM9) if the point ever comes that I decide that pocket carry is for me after all. The only pocketable gun that is staying is the SIG P290RS (mostly because I love it so much), but it is usually used with the 8 round mag IWB (tucked) and occasionally dropped in my pocket while at home if there is a knock on the door and I'm not currently wearing a gun. Heck, I'm even rethinking the Glock 27 I planned to buy because the last couple times I was in VA for a few days and carrying for more than a few hours, I found that I actually prefer a slightly larger gun (no harder to conceal as long as it is thin enough, and it is more capable). As a result, I'm thinking more Glock 23 or CZ PCR in size.
