kel-tec RFB in 5.56?

Whatever happened with the RFB coming out in 5.56?

I'd take this thing to the range regularly and 7.62 by the 100s would add up quick compared to blasting 5.56 which is why I dropped the idea of picking one up.

I looked into getting an Aug, but after buying 2 black rifles in the last couple months, spending over $2,000 on another rifle isn't going to fly right now.

It never was.

It barely has in 7.62.

There are other 5.56mm Bullpup options.

Exactly. Years after it was supposedly "in production" they're producing 1 version of a planned 3, and that at a trickle. Make that a slow drip. You'll see alternate caliber RFBs the day after the opening ceremonies of the winter Olympics in Hell.

If the RFB was made by any other company except Kel-tec, I probably would have bought it before my FAL. Something about a Kel-Tec .308 bullpup just gives me the willies!

As far as 5.56 bullpups go, the MSAR has my go, and is on my short list for maybe 2012 lol.

As others have said what ever happened to it coming out in .308. The highest serial number I've seen anyone claim to have is #448. This over a year after they were released.

I'd like them to produce a few thousand to get any teething problems out of the way and so I can see some dispassionate testing and reviews before I pick one up. Early purchasers who mentioned issues were nearly crucified KTOG sight, which is an "enthusiast" sight if I have ever seen one. At this rate I'll be waiting a while. Also the target model that looks so interesting would seemingly be a long ways off.

Bushmaster M17S, only on used/old stock market, interesting gun

Personally I don't think any .223 bullpup has been a success. I shot a FS2000 and was not impressed. I've handled the MSAR STG, it's nice in some ways and feels like a toy in others (safety anyone?). The more recent model that uses AR-15 mags is probably the better way to go.

Best bullpups around are probably the FAMAS and Tavor, neither one is currently available in the US. Charles Daly was going to bring the Tavor here, but they went out of business.

Bullpups are wonderful on paper, but I just don't see the real net benefit to them, and I even own one (a Walther G22).

Well, I wanted a bullpup. Checked out the market and realized few simple truths:
1. M17S accurate, reliable, cheap, but uncomfortable
2. MSAR STG556, not any more reliable, not any more accurate, more comfortable for TWICE the price.
3. FS2000. Not any more reliable, not any more accurate, more comfortable for THREE times the price.

Guess what I bought?

Thats right: M17S. Since then I Installed heat shield and a plastic foregrip, took out the carrying handle, installed G36 rail with iron sights and a metal cross bar for a charging handle.

It is still ugly. However, more comfortable then it used to be, and guess what: it shoots as well as the rifle twice or three times the price

There was a planned Kel-Tec 5.56 Bullpup. It was called the SUB-16. It was supposed to come out in the 1990's. I guess the Clinton Ban killed it though.

Kel-Tec's current problem with making RFB's is that their new facility is actually drawing more power than what the grid actually puts out. They're begging Florida Power and Light to increase their supply. It's ironic considering they just spent all that dough on building the new facility for the RFB and the PMR-30.

Check KTOG.org and Kel-Tec's own website for updates. Every now and then they leave something exciting.

...except you can get a brand new StG556 for around $1000 now. The E4s are still going for about $1400-1500.

Granted, I'm a bit of a AUG fanboy...didn't think I would be but now that I have one, I do like their handling.

we dont even have .308 RFBs in any kind of numbers, forget about a 5.56

Id love one of their new shotguns but after the RFB debacle im not expecting to ever see one

I got a chance to shoot my friends FS2000 and have to say that it is a totally different feel compared to my AR15. The 5.56 does not have much recoil to begin with, but when shot in the FS2000 there was virtually none, like shooting a .22 rimfire...

Just my thoughts about it, though I have no desire to get one of my own...

I have frequented ktog.org for several years and don't recall ever seeing a post on the RFB Forum (or any of them) where a Kel-Tec Rep has stated that a 5.56 version of the RFB is being planned.
