I'm interested in possibly picking up a Kel Tec Sub 2000 9MM that accepts Glock 17 mags, but I don't know anything about them except that they are hard to get right now, and the only ones that are available are priced way too high (Gunbroker, anyone?). I'm intetrested in hearing from folks who have first hand experience with them. Thanks!

I've had mine since they first came out and had zero problems. I have the lower rail (with light) and butt extender on mine, with 4 x 33 round mags it fits very nicely in a briefcase. The only real issue for many is it does not accept optics readily. But in spite of the cheap sights on it I found it easy to zero and even I can shoot 2 1/2 - 3" groups at 50 yards with it.

I have one and like it. It's a fun toy especially with the 33 round Glock magazines. One of the clubs I shoot at has a pistol caliber carbine match that is held with their USPSA and IDPA matches. It's big fun to shoot IDPA or USPSA stages with the Kel Tec.

It's not very left hand friendly if that matters to you and it's not easy to mount any optics but it can be done. A red dot is almost a must to maximize the fun. I'd buy another, that takes Glock magazines, in a second.

I have one that takes glock mags.

It has been 100% in terms of reliability. It is fairly accurate. I have never shot groups from a bench and probably never will, its not that type of gun for me.

It has typical kel tec quality. That is to say the fit and fish is pretty lacking. The trigger is not very good, and over all it doesn't feel real high end (although a step up from a hi point carbine). The front sight is cheap plastic and looks kind of cheesy. I live where it is very dry and it is the only gun I have ever had rust. The inverse of that is that I paid $265 or so for it NIB (although I waited a good while for my dealer to get one). I think it offers a lot for that price range and I am really happy with it. The fact that it folds is cool and makes it easy to transport in a computer bag or the like.

All in all I would buy it again.

I bought mine from a member here in the $250-$275 range. Well worth it. Only problem I ever had was it does not like "Scherer" (sp?) brand 33 rond mags. Put the Glock factory 33 rounders and its good to go.

I mounted a rail at the 6 o'clock position and put a folding vfg and $20 brinkman cr123 light in a 1" scope ring. The "fiber optic" front sight catches the light well in low light conditions. It shoots minute of critter at 50 or so yards.

What is suprising is the amount of recoil this thing has. Its a quick sharp jab. Prolly due to the blowback?

I have a brand new .40 cal Beretta mag Kel Tec. Out of the box the barrel was loose as hell....so I had to align it/boresight it and lock-tite that sucker...then on about the 3rd magazine the front sights just shattered...(cheap plastic)...Kel Tec sent me new front sights free of charge....so I now have about 6 or 7 magazines through it and nothing else has fell off ....I dunno what to tell you....they are cheap fun....cheap being the operative word here. Maybe I'll never have another issue.....maybe the barrel will crack in half....who knows....Kel Tec has a lifetime warranty :) I would never consider this thing a home defense weapon for damn sure.

I have one that takes S&W mags. Love it.

Reliable, easy to hit with. Stock is kind of short, but heck, it's a carbine right. I certainly would not call it a toy. Mine has been very dependable. Goes traveling with me sometimes. Bought it around 10 years ago or so.

I have one that uses the Berratta mags. I am going to convert it to use Sig 226 mags. Costs about 5 bucks for the parts to do it. It has good accuracy, the sights look cheap but they work well. I am right handed, shoot left handed due to a blind right eye. I have never experienced any issue shooting it left handed. The guy I bought it from sold it because he was a left handed shooter and had issues with it so sold it. From what I can tell, some leftys have zero issue with it and some do. Go figure.

Its a fun gun, very compact, and if it uses the mags your pistols do it really shines in usefulness. I have never cleaned mine. Probably 800 rounds through it. It is starting to jam every few mags so I guess I need to clean it.

Mine uses the S&W mags also...

Overall, quite pleased...it's compact, portable and, at least to me, practical. Had it for a few years now, and it continues to function without any problems.

They work, but their not my cup of tea. I'd rather have my mini uzi (yes obvious its way more expensive).

Just purchased a Sub 2000 that takes Glock G17 magazines about two weeks ago. Probably the most fun-to-shoot gun I've ever owned. Get one. Oh yeah, and no problems have surfaced. :)

Buddy of mine has a 9mm and my step dad has a .40. Coolest and most fun little carbines I've ever shot. Pretty dang accurate too. I have every intention of getting one in 9mm for myself.

They are great! Not pretty but they fold in half, come on!
Shoots well, perfectly reliable for me. Not to mention the
fact that everyone who shoots it gets a great big smile.

I have a first gen that uses Glock 17 mags.
Folded with four 33round mags it fits perfectly in a small laptop case.

I wish I could find these in stock, period. Nobody (other than auction sites) seems to have these, and haven't had them for a long time. If the auction sites are any indicator, the days of <$300 prices are no more.

I think they are pretty awesome little guns... and surprisingly capable as far as accuracy..even with the factory sights, if you miss a 6 inch steel plate at 50 yards rapid fire it is your fault.

I have the .40/G22 flavor Sub2k. It is a great little rifle. Accurate out to 75-100 yards and very reliable. I have seen several on gunbroker recently for less than $300.

I am gonna go against the grain here; ergonomically , they suck hard!!! the blow back on these will get them dirty as hell's bathroom, the steel bar will rock your cheekrest. I would get the beretta if I had the money, and wanted a small carbine. Better yet, the best of all is the new h/k variants, but they will cost you. My boss just got one of these, and it is completely rockin... he got the rifle version, and put a collapsing stock on it...

the above are both pistol versions.

I've shot one that belongs to my friend quite a bit. He really tried to make it "tacti-cool" and ruined the folding rifle's folding ability. That is beside the point. The one i was shooting had a little holographic sight on top with a foregrip. Shooting it was like clicking on stuff on your computer, it was just plain easy! Quick shot, no recoil, fast and fun. I'd recommend it, i think.

I picked up a Glock 17 mag compatible Sub 2000 last summer for $285 NIB. It's fun, I don't find the recoil at all objectional, and it's always gone bang when I pull the trigger. Great truck gun. I carry mine in a Advantec steel reinforced nylon computer / briefcase, perfect fit.
Things I don't like about it are the front sight; it's a post-in-a-circle design, and when I use that type of sight I want the post to be in the middle of the circle. It's not.
Also, the bottom of the grip frame doesn't have anything holding it together so it flexes and wants to seperate in ways that don't inspire much confidence.
Yes, there are certainly better pistol caliber carbines out there, but for the money the Sub 2000 can't be beat.

I've had mine for about four years, got it new, and love it. Nah, it's not a high-end gun, but I've never had a problem with mine, and everyone who shoots it loves it. What else do you want from a carbine that'll fit into a pizza box? :)
