I just picked up a Kimber Classic Custom. It's an older gun and the finish is worn BUT When I handled it I was shocked at how good the trigger was, on par with any 1911 I ever fired so I decided to take a chance.

After a really bad kimber experience a few years ago with a pro raptor that wouldn't run I really swore them off for good but something about this one told me to chance it.

We'll see. Anyone here have good luck with older pre 2000 kimbers? I didn't see much on GB so I'm not even sure what a fair price is....

I had a classic Kimber 1911, think it had Oregon on the frame as their location.

Got it used as it was my first 1911 and I think I paid $500 for with 3 magazines a few years ago.

I traded it in at my local shop for a Colt, he gave me $650 for a trade in as he is a big Kimber dealer and wanted it for himself and was in excellent shape.

I have owned mine since 1997. The trigger is around 3lbs. and breaks clean. It still runs like a top after thousands of rounds. It's a keeper.

I have a Classic Custom that I bought in the mid to late 1990s. It has always been a great pistol.

Regards, Pablito

I have always been partial to Colts but a friend of mine has a Classic Custom that he picked up in the late '90s. The gun has been a great shooter, and totally reliable, right out of the box. The only work being done to it a few years ago was the addition of a set of night sights. I have used this gun on a number of occasions and found it every bit as great as a similar model Colt.

The first generation of Kimbers were the only ones my wife and I owned and they were as reliable as any of our Colt 1911s.

Nice Russ. Where are you in CT? That looks like an OR gun, right. Very cool.
I just picked mine up tonight and can't wait to get it on the range soon.

The Customs are the best of the Kimbers IMHO. Even the series II's are good guns. It was the high end Kimbers that had a few issues at one time.

I'm in the NE corner.

I recently sold that Clackamas!!! I had not shot it in over 8 years, and used the money to buy something else. No regrets here
