I've seen advertisements for Kimbers less than lethal weapon called the LifeAct, but I cant find any details about it. Does anyone have any info about this product?

It's a pepper spray.

Kimber Launches Pair of Powerful Non-Lethal Self Defense Tools

Yonkers, New York, September 1, 2006 - Kimber® LifeAct™ products are the most powerful and technologically-advanced non-lethal self defense tools available today. Each unit holds two powerful blasts of liquid agent containing OC (oleoresin capsicum), the effective ingredient of pepper sprays. A hit will incapacitate an assailant instantly and effectively for up to 45 minutes.

The Guardian Angel® weighs just 13 ounces, and is sized for carry in a pocket or purse. It also clips easily to belt or waistband. With a 13-foot range and 90 MPH delivery, it stops threats at a distance. Suggested retail price is just $39.95.

The JPX™ takes OC to the next performance level with a 270 MPH delivery, 21-foot range, quickly reloadable 2-shot magazines, Picatinny rail and optional integral laser sight. The conventional shape and action makes training easy and fast. The JPX is the ultimate non-lethal option for police, especially in crowd control situations.

LifeAct products offer significant performance advantages over conventional sprays. First among them is a propulsion system that delivers the OC payload in a fraction of a second, virtually eliminating cross-contamination. Both the Guardian Angel and JPX point naturally and do not require the careful positioning necessary with traditional OC spray canisters.

American Rifleman

Just received the latest NRA American Rifleman issue in the mail today.
The inside front conver and rear cover pages have Kimber ads that show pictures of the Kimber LifeAct Guardian Angel product. Looked on their website but it looks like Kimber's website is slightly behind their advertising once again, didn't see it anywhere there.

Greetings,
Had a Guardian Angel for a day many months ago that was a gift but gave it back to my (starving) instructor. He ordered a case of them and wanted about $25 each. This was before Kimber picked them up. They are from a company called Piexon at http://www.piexon.com. Pretty cool, actually. Very easy to carry. The LE JP-401 is really cool. Had a promotional CD that had a lot of info. Haven't seen the two-shot LifeAct that the Kimber press release refers to other than the Guardian Angel but it is probably a version of the JPX. Hope that helps.

Thanks, Mr. Shirley. I've read many a thread here and am glad to finally be a participant.
Some side notes on the Guardian Angel: My instructor, Fred Behnken (Google him) has a nice blue stain on the ceiling of his classroom from a student unintentionally firing the second shot from a GA inert training unit. The first shot tore up a paper target pretty badly at the range. During the 2 days I had one, I sold a few at the gun show where I was running Fred's booth. Shoulda bought it. In a decade of armed security, bouncing and bar managing, I've OCed A LOT of deserving people and the Jet Projector technology really interests me. I'd like to see a weapon-mounted Jet Projector that takes the place of THE OPTION OC DISPENSER from a few years ago.
OC doesn't always work, but it's good enough that I carry it almost always when armed and teach the same doctrine of having an intermediate force option available.
Kudos to Kimber for recognizing cutting edge technology applied to an age-old need yet again. Hope they're not mad at me for outing their new toys' origins.

I usually use FOX 2oz Foggers and I wonder how this compares. Anyone have a link to an online store with em?

Piexon gadgets are great:))

Hi,
yes, these two products are Made in Switzerland by Piexon.

The smaller - non-reloadable - unit (Guardian Angel/Dog Shock) is on the European market since 2-3 years and quite succesful. I carry one daily as silent non-lethal option.

The thing is very effective, from short range it is impossible to jump away (such in the case of a normal pepperspray). It works in strong wind, and in closed room, two.

The effect is drastical. Instant blindness (temporary of course), brutal pain. I'would prefer it to any .25 caliber "mousegun".

The 4 m (12 feet) effective range is valid, BUT you have to be very cold, as it is easy to miss.
No sights....

The reloadable JPX gun is very high quality, although a little large (but very light). Practically that is a side-by-side derringer, with DAO trigger. WITH SIGHTS. Effective range is 7 meters (21 feet), so it is great for LEO work.

Try them, and you will be believer of "pyrotechnic pepper solutions".

My local gun store has these for $35.

I just had to pick one up for my wife, and now I'm probably going to get one for myself.

They are a nice little weapon, and can be carried where guns are not allowed.

Once you fire the Guardian Angel, can you buy more of the OC charges? Or do you have to buy whole new Guardian Angel unit?

Also, when you fire the device, do both charges fire? Or do you have two seperate shots?

Wow, awesome!

I wonder if these are illegal in states like NY yet... anyone know? I want to get a couple for family members.

Content...

Does anyone know if this unit comes with any practice charges or if you have to get the seperately?

Cheers!
David

Those Guardian Angels are completely non-rechargeable. You can buy practice units and "live" units, that's it. Once one is used, you throw it away and buy another.

JPXes, the barrels are non-reusable. You shoot a set of barrels, then get a new set (for the same price as a Guardian Angel, too, plus the $350+ for the JPX itself).

Here is the run down on the Kimber Lifeact Guardian Angel.

It uses a pyrotechnic power drive to launch two very high powered blasts of ultra hot pepper spray at a range of up to 13 feet at 90MPH. This eliminates cross contamination and does not give the attacker time to turn his head or dodge the spray. The impact pattern is about 12x12 inches. The nozzle on the Guardian Angel provides the advantages of both the stream and cone without the disadvantages. Because it does not use a permanent pressure system it is completely reliable in extreme heat or cold. It will not rupture, burst or depressurize and there is no loss in pressure. It only has pressure when you pull the
trigger.

Dick Metcalf recommended this product on personal defense TV. Yes it only has two shots but one shot of this stuff is more than enough to affect someone. The unit fires about .21 ounces of OC solution with each burst. This completely saturates the attacker’s eyes, nose, mouth, hair and chest in OC. You don’t have to use careful aiming for the product to hit the target.
Everyone likes to point out that this product only has two shots. You’re not going to be in a Walker Texas Ranger fight with 14 guys and if you have several attackers you better be using something other than pepper spray. This is a very good product that will not disappoint. Two shots is more than enough to get you out of a bad situation.

The strength of the spray is 10% Oleoresin Capsicum with 2.4% Major Capsaicinoids. To give you an idea of how hot this is Bear spray is 10% OC with 2.0% Capsaicinoids. Yes it is hotter than bear spray and it uses a benzyl alcohol carrier that opens the pores on contact. It also naturally adapts to a right or left hand since it has the feel of a firearm with a trigger.

Now as far as effectiveness I did not take a hit directly in the face but I did wipe the oc residue around my eye area. My eye slammed shut and I had a small red burn around my eye for about 24 hours. Just small traces of the agent around the face makes you cough. I like this product much better than another pepper spray. For years pepper sprays were highly underrated. That has changed with this product. Buy one and try it out. You won’t be disappointed.
I also put one of the units through a torture test. The unit was thrown on the ground and skid across pavement several times. While the plastic case was scratched up the product never broke and it still fired. I have carried OC sprays for over 14 years and this is the best one I have ever tested. This should be a part of your self defense gear right next to the handgun. I would say if the instructors at Personal Defense TV Liked the product and called it a “true survival tool” then it is well worth having and I agree 100%
