I recently purchased a Kimber CDP II from a local gunstore in California. he said it would be an estimated 2 month wait time for delivery (pretty long wait for a pistol if you ask me) but I was ok with that.

3 months go by and I talked to another gunstore owner, who had to wait 7 MONTHS for one of these things!!! not only that he said I probably would be waiting just as long. Im staying in touch with the gunstore and try to call them about 1-2 times a mo, but I honestly dont want to wait around forever for one little kimber.

My question is this: What is so special about the CDP II that would make it take 7 months to get in my hand?! I paid $1,400 for this pistol (cash!) WHY ARE GUNS SO DAMN HARD TO GET IN MY STATE!!! I feel trapped behind enemy lines here...:banghead:

Like most manufacturers (furniture, whatever), they run batches of models/products. Maybe they only make that model once a year.

My local Gander Mt. (Eden Prairie, MN) had one yesterday along with a couple of the super carry models on the shelf.

2 months is VERY ambitious for a special order from Kimber. They aren't a big company and their products are very popular right now... so it means long wait times.

Last i looked for a cdp i got the same info. then i lucked up and got one. im about to sell it actually stinkin awesome gun. i am going to get myself a grand raptor for target shooting and let the cdp go. mine is a pro i want to get a 5 inch.
