Picked up a CRKT as they claim they are made in the US. They are not. They are just headquartered here. Most are made in China from what I gather.

I would like to pick up a nice folder, made in the USA. Looking for a throwback style, wood handle, mid sized blade, no serrations.

Where should I start looking?

Wow, that was EXACTLY what I had pictured in my mind.

You are the man.

Going with the Buck. Damn CRKT really let me down being made in China. They totally sell themselves as an American company. To me it doesnt matter where you are based out of, it matters who builds your product.

We had a couple of recent threads on American made and on traditional American jackknife pattern folders.

Bear, Buck, Case are where the two topics overlap.

As to CRKT being American, they are an American company offering knives the have manufactured in various countries like China, Taiwan, and the US. I've never seen them claim all their knives were made in the US.

When I went to their website I recall it being heavily marketed they are an American company, which they are. But if most of your kinves are being made in other countries you really are not an American company, imo.

Its a nice knife. I just prefer to avoid Chinese products when possible and buy American.

CRKT is up there with Gerber in producing knives in and out of the US.

Even Benchmade has went there now as well, some of their value lines and products made for other companies are coming from China. I have an "NRA Outdoors" mini canoe folder that Benchamde put out (even had their name on the box), but it was made in China. It's the finest Chinese pocket knife I've ever seen though.

Heck, the average Toyota is more American made than a typical GM car.

Point was, don't go by where it's HQ'd, go by their fiber...if they are proud of their workers, they'll keep using them. If they keep their workers hidden off under some dark log like Mushrooms, they'll go whereever they think is good that day.

Any benchmade, with the exception of the Red Box line, will be made in the USA and a great piece of hardware.

I wont buy ammo that is not made in the USA either. There are some things you just cant get away with buying USA only. But anytime I can, I go for USA.

I think Queen, and their side line of Schatt and Morgan are the finest American made production knives since the 60's. The folding knives I purchased have D2 and ATS 34 blades. They are so hard it takes a diamond hone to sharpen them.

I purchased a couple of Bear and Sons Barlows with 1095 blades. I am impressed with the fit and finish.

Wow, you were not lying about those Schatt and Morgans....VERY NICE!!! Not cheap though. Quality deserves the price tag Im sure.

Yes they are eye popping.

The price difference is American labor. You can pay Chinese $7.00 a month for a similiar item. You can pay $70-$120 for a Schatt and an American gets to feed his family.

It is about time we sucked it up and bought American. ;)

If this is true I will be buying more Buck knives in the future. I still see many made in China Buck knives on the shelves at many stores. I do not see any mention of this on their website either

Agree with the made in USA mantra. Only time I go to Walmarts is when my wife drags me there shopping. I truly hate walking the isles at big box stores.

Another thing to consider, most any bank that is made up of letters, like HSVC, etc. are foreign owned. Seems they are afraid to spell out their real country of origin. Usually China. Sometimes Germany (Deutsche Bank)

I buy American when ever possible and you know what alot of times its cheaper than the Chinese goods.More and more people are making it a point to buy American and some of the companies are taking notice and moving there operations back home.
