Knives - I Want it Truly Made in the USA

I bought a Buck Hunter w/pouch, the first day I went aboard ship in Subic Bay, PI, back in '68. I've still got it today, still sharpens like a razor and its skinned many deer and elk. Buck does make good knives!

err... Let me rephrase... The blade shapes are different. I own two Case mini-trappers already. A regular one with G10 handles, and a the 2009 Wharncliffe with blue bone handles.

Ah...understand now. The Bear and Son has the straight spey as well, same with the Canal Street. I do like that curved spey myself tho the only knife I have with it is a moose pattern. The curved spey is a great cutting design.

Cool... I never even thought about Canal Street! I am not a huge traditional knife fan, but I have learned to appreciate them and am trying to build a small collection. For whatever reason, I like the Trapper model, and the mini-trapper size is just about perfect.

ricebasher,

Thanks. I'd only seen fixed blades from TOPS. Gotta say, I think the Spyderco Manix 2 in my pocket is a better knife than any I see on their site. It was about 76$, including shipping, from Cutlery Shoppe. Made in Golden, Colorado...

I like the design of the Manix 2, but "jankerson" on youtube tested one which failed spine-whacks which other knives easily pass. Also, it developed blade play which other folders did not. He told Spyderco who then promised to correct a possible design problem. For the record, I like Spyderco.

Earlier I mentioned strong reservations with the value of Chris Reeve knives. I will say that I do like the Umnumzaan much better than the Sebenza, but am still wrestling with the fact that it is $400. There is no way around it: that is a lot of money for something you might "abuse" or even possibly lose. It is nice though.

Yeah, I did hear that Spyderco had made a few changes to the design. They're very responsive to feedback. :)
