I can't tell you how shocked I am about this. I didn't know the man but have read his posts for years.

I met Alan & his wife at the Colorado get together at Larry's, we had exchanged PM's a few times before and I was glad to get the chance to meet them.
My sympathies to his family, you're in my prayers.

Labgrade is Gone

Hi, my name is Tom Buchanan and I regret to inform the readers of the board that labgrade, Alan Albertus died yesterday afternoon in a tragic house fire.

His wife, Crystal asked me if I would inform the readers of this forum.

Alan was a good friend and true supporter of the Second Amendment, but I don't have to tell any of you on this forum. Many of you know him through the typewritten word. I have the honor of spending countless hours with Alan talking about Freedom.

Besides his wonderful wife Crystal, this forum and the Firing Line before it were one of his greatest pleasures in life.

He will be sadly missed.

Here is an email from Rocky Mountain Gun Owners

=====================

Below is a news release from Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave's office
announcing the creation of a Second Amendment Caucus in the U.S. House.

This caucus was born out of talks with RMGO, GOA and Musgrave staff to
find new and innovative ways to protect -- and regain -- our right to
keep and bear arms.

Rest assured that RMGO will continue to work on this project.

-------------------------------------
This morning our office learned that Alan Albertus, a long-time gun
rights activist from northern Colorado, died in a fire at his home last
night.

Alan (known online as "labgrade") was the creator of the Tyranny
Response Team in 2000. Since that time he (and his wife, Crystal) put
their efforts into building Rocky Mountain Gun Owners and the Second
Amendment Sisters. He was a very active RMGO member, sometimes calling
our office on a daily basis.

Alan will be greatly missed, not just by the movement but by myself
personally. He was a close personal friend.

I urge all of you who pray to commit yourself to it this weekend for
Alan's family.

Executive Director

I will be busy trying to help Crystal get through this tragic time in her life and will try to get you all posted.

My GF Sasha and I spent an enjoyable evening with Alan and Crystal just a few months ago. They were most gracious hosts, and we were up late into the night involved in lively discussion. Just last month, Alan and his grandson Josh came shooting with myself and one other THR'r.

This is a great loss.

I've only met Labgrade on two occasions; once at his home, and again at the Colorado THR get-together last year. At his home he was a fantastic host, and at the CO get together he was cordial.

I'll never forget putting a couple of rounds through his .309 JDJ Contender! :)

He will be missed, both for his contributions to the RKBA and his presence both online and in the real world.

RIP Alan

I have said a prayer for him

Labgrade,Jimpeel and I were co conspirators for awhile, trying to organize THR folks and their friends to leaflet the nearest large airport on labor day to support arming pilots.:( :( :(
