Rest in peace hail fellow, and when you get to where you are going, set up a target, load your weapon, check your backstop and then start shooting... forever. Regards and condolences to Crystal, family and friends...

This is such a sad situation. Never met labgrade nor did we ever speak on the phone, but we did trade some pm's. When his son Shane was in the hospital the first time for his transplant, I sent a card and then later the boxing gloves with the "Keep Fighting" note. I was really touched at how well those were received, and I was honored when labgrade said in a pm that he considered me "family". I looked forward to someday meeting him in person. This is one of the wonders of this forum, that stangers will come together and friendships will form over the internet. My prayers go out to his family and to the memory of a close friend.

Alan Albertus

To All:

I'm saddened to hear the bleak news about Alan. He was a good man, and a fine patriot. I will miss his humor and his thoughtfulness.

Go with God, my friend.

Kind regards to all,

A friend of mine has passed away.
I did not know him well.
We’d chat on line,
And pass some time,
Discussing some old cause.

A friend of mine has passed away.
I did not know his name.
His handle to me,
Was him you see,
I thought this was enough.

A friend of mine has passed away.
His presence will be missed.
His personal take,
Or what he’d make,
O the topics of the day.

A friend of mine has passed away.
I don’t know what to say.
But he will missed,
I am convinced,
Good By my friend Labgrade.

A friend of mine has passed away.

As Rick so beautifully put it: while I never met him, I've known him for years. He was (is) inspiring.

Rest in peace, friend. You are missed and will be long mourned.

This really tears me apart.............I'm gonna miss labgrade and he and his family are in my prayers.

Never knew Alan .. only in the ''cyber sense'' .... now wish very much I had been able to know the man, FTF.

This is stunning ....... no -- shattering news, and it's hard to make it sink in. This is like the situation where someone says .... ''but I only saw him yesterday'' ..... in this case it is ''But I only read his post yesterday''. It's unreal.

I am deeply saddened .. for our loss .. and of course the most the loss to his family. Monkeyleg ... I hope you will excuse me using a quote from your earlier post on this thread ... it speaks volumes .....
Rest in Eternal Peace, Labgrade. You're going to be missed by more than you could ever have imagined.

That's the saddest tragedy of the internet. You really do become attached to a person. Not just to the flesh and blood standing before you, as in tradition, but the true person -- the personality.

I may never meet some of you, but I hope to someday bump into Labgrade walking the streets of glory.

Wes

So sad .... just don't know what to say :(

You think that folks will just always be around, and then all of a sudden they are gone.

Wish'd I'd had the chance to talk to or meet him personally, but now I never will ....

Here are a few pictures of Labgrade from our Independence Day Picnic 2002. We brought out the dart guns and had a ball. The kids (all ages ) were running around shooting each other with the rubber darts. The liberals in the park were aghast at the sight of children having so much fun with guns.

I have more pictures that I will load when I find them.

I went up to his house to talk to his neighbors to see if I could get Crystal's cell phone number and had good talk with them.

It seems that the fire was extinguished and the fire department left around 9:00 pm. At 11:15 they were awaken to the sound of a small explosion and what sounded like popcorn. Apparently the fire had not gotten to his reloading room the first time and it flared back up after everyone was gone except a lone sheriff's deputy.

The neighbors said that was just like Al. He wasn't going out without a bang.

From what they said the second fire was more intense than the first one.

I talked with Crystal this morning and she is holding up as well as can be expected. Her Mom and sister are with her.

The Fife and Drum Corps have contacted me and they will be playing at his memorial service.

This is a picture of Al at a barbque in my yard last year.

God I am going to miss our hours long conversations that usually wound up in devising Henry Bowman type scenarios.

Labgrade, rest in peace.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

I'm sad to say that I don't remember meeting him on any of my trips to my parent's house in Loveland.:(
