Does CNN still have him on the payroll or does he just refuse to leave his chair? I just watched him interview the heroine Jeanne Assam along with Pastor Boyd. Ms. Assam was fielding questions such as "what was it like?" and "will you ever be the same?". She seemed to sit there in stunned disbelief over such asinine questions. There were no questions regarding any previous training she may have had etc. After watching the interview I learned absolutely nothing that hasn't been reported here already.:banghead:

Well that was quick. Her identity as "the hero" wasn't revealed until this afternoon -- and the Larry King show already got her on the tube tonight!

Along with the many accolades due her, I hope she will also accept the mantle of being the poster-child for effective CCW.

Too bad Larry didn't ask her any pointed questions regarding why she was armed, or how she used her personally owned firearm to stop a deadly threat. I read elsewhere on the interweb that she was formerly a LEO in the Twin Cities of Minnesota.

We still have plenty of bissninnies, though -- In today's online Rocky Mountain News one reader actually posted a comment on the story that stated: "I don't know why churches would have armed guards"....at the bottom of an article showing how an armed parishioner cut short what could have been a much larger massacre. :banghead:

I just don't understand why a church needs armed guards . Is this the same church that had the scandal with the gay pastor?

Larry king is a living corpse. His questions are generic and he sucks!
Look up his interview with Jerry Seinfeld for Bee Movie. It's great. Jerry rips him a new one, because all of larry's stats are wrong and his questions are generic.

She was just on FOX...with Gretta V.

Seems to me that there must be some high road way of expressing disapproval other than he "sucks". My 13-year-old daughter sits and reads over my shoulder. Please, keep the high road, the high road.

Is it just me or did Larry's first question rubb yall the wrong way too?

He said something like: "What where you doing with A GUN; IN CHURCH; on A SUNDAY!?!?"

Like she should have never even had the gun, and should have been one of the countless victims... :banghead:

Larry is a walking corpse...And a worthless one at that.

I just don't understand why a church needs armed guards

Umm, did this genius read the story before making this comment?

So I am guessing he would have rather had that scumbag rip through 40-50 people, than have a law-obiding ex-LEO carrying in church?

Well, she's also damn easy on the eyes.

+1;)

Hope she deals with it all okay.

Also, a big +1...She sounds like a pretty strong woman, I think she will be fine...Hope the media doesn't drive her insane, which it probably will.:barf:

Larry could have done a better job. However, I have to admit that I was in stunned disbelief during half the show that mainstream media even portrayed her in a positive light. I've just never seen the media do anything close to that.

I was pleased to see that the Pastor and the other guy kept saying she's a real life heroine. Larry could have fed off that energy. He was basically a lump on a log, not many signs of life. Unfortunately, I think he may be suffering from a bit of senility. For that reason, I can't get too mad at him, but I would like for him to retire.

We also must keep in mind that a good interviewer is going to ask questions that most people are wondering. He tries to follow that script I think. Larry asked the question about why a security guard is necessary. That's a question that may be obvious to pro-gun folks, but it's not obvious to the rest of the population. The Pastor fielded that question gracefully.

I would have liked to have seen more clarification that she was NOT a member of law enforcement and was rather just a private a citizen with a license. They said it, but I thought it was a huge point that deserved more time.

Seems we've had that attitude on this very board at times. I suspect we won't see it anymore, though. But just for good measure:

If you can't/won't be 100% committed to CCW, why bother? If we knew where and when bad things would happen, we could simply avoid those places at those times.

And yes, Larry King has a special place pergatory, right next to Michael Moore.

Larry King is tough for me to watch because he makes my blood pressure go through the roof. The questions he asks are asinine and he commits the most unforgivable sin of interrupting his guests before they can even answer. Lest they forget whose show they are on, he runs things his way and always gets the last and most every other word in. His ego is not to be believed. And he's a terrible interviewer. I don't know what anyone sees in him.

The worst TV Larry King moment I ever saw, EVER, was the show earlier this year when he interviewed Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Olivia Harrison and Yoko Ono. He was disgusting. Asked stupid questions and interrupted them incessantly, including to plug Britney Spears who was his guest the next night. Can you imagine the unmitigated gall to actually get both surviving Beatles and the others' spouses and treat them that way? I almost put a round through my TV. Britney Spears? They were all so polite and funny, and dealt with this cretin so nicely, it was really something to see.

Rant off, I feel better now, (a little).

I cannot believe he said "Congratulations" to her at the end of the interview. How moronic. She didn't win the lottery Larry. I'm sure she is still pretty shaken up over the events. Watching that interview was like getting a root canal. Larry needs to hang it up.

God Bless her and the families of this horrendous act.

God Bles her and KEep her. Prayers and thoughts to the families. Wish there were more laadies like her, she has class and style.

When I was younger, I got treated to Larry being utterly crushed and ground into paste by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on Celebrity Jeopardy.
Granted, Kareem's a brilliant man, but King didn't really even make much of a showing. That's when I decided not to waste any time on him.

Glad to hear her actions are getting recognized. Despite whether anyone else remembers Jeanne Assam in the long run, I think WE need to.

They distinguish her and her situation by drumming on that she was a "security guard" and former LEO. Thay helps them deal with the facts without their head exploding.

See above.

'congratulations' implies a positive outcome. 'commiserations' implies a positive intent, but unfulfilled or failed outcome.

i think its safe to say her intent and the outcome were both positive. why not congratulate her for doing the right thing?

Interesting (not really) to see that two male guards seemed to have frozen.

Yes, that bugged me too. They should have just gone ahead and said "Please keep in mind that no mere mortal could have averted this crime just because they had a CHL" at the end of the numerous cop references.

It amazes me that people "think" themselves into helplessness.

I can tell you didn't see the interview. You would understand why this comment was inappropriate.

First off, mid way thru it, he said she "must be proud". And then he ended with "congratulations". She did not just have a baby or just got married. She just shoot a criminal in self defense. In essense, Larry was saying "congratulations, you must be proud you killed someone." This was so wrong on so many levels. Jeanne did what she HAD to do! She did not wake up Sunday morning and tell herself she was going to go kill someone that day. The words proud and congratulations were WAY out of place for this interview. All it did was make Larry look more like the idiot that he is.

On the up side of the interview, the minister made the comment that concealed carry is legal in churches in Colorado, and he fully accepts that and wishes everyone did! God bless this man! And God bless Jeanne for doing what she needed to do when she did. Yes, God does work in mysterious ways!

"I don't know why churches would have armed guards"....

Apparently they need(ed) armed guards..thank God they had the foresight to do as they did.
