Out of everything that's happened in the election, I think that this referedum getting shot down is the most bothersome to me. Even though it was not binding, I really thought it would pass. I guess Chicago influence is slowing pushing out from the city and corrupting the rural counties. :cuss: Time to move,or maybe fight harder.

Fifty-two percent of La Salle County voters went against an advisory referendum to permit the carrying of concealed firearms.
Why it didn’t pass: “I really don’t know. I’m totally surprised,” said La Salle County Board member Jack Leininger (R-Marseilles). “We’re one of the two states that don’t have the right to conceal.”
What it means to state lawmakers: “I think it will pretty much keep things the way they are,” said state Rep. Frank Mautino (D-Spring Valley). Mautino said that even if the referendum had passed in La Salle County, strong opposition to such laws from suburban and Chicago legislators would have nullified its chances of passing in the General Assembly."

I hate this state...

I second that motion, what other counties had a CC referendum. I heard there were spposed to have been 6 or so. Does any one know if any of them passed.

Results of CCW Referenda

14 counties in Illinois had a non-binding CCW referendum on the ballot yesterday. The question on the ballots was generally worded like: Shall the General Assembly enact legislation to permit the carrying of concealed firearms?

Here are the results from those 14 counties:

Woodford - yes 55%

Ogle - yes 53%

Crawford - Yes 59%

Jasper - Yes 61%

Jefferson - Yes 63%

Franklin - Yes 71%

Saline - Yes 71%

Greene - Yes 63%

Union - Yes 67%

Effingham - Yes 58%

McDonough - No 55%

LaSalle - No 53%

Kendall - No 56%

Winnebago - No 51%

IMO, this was a bad idea from the start. It's foolish to count on the voting public to understand or support this issue. The counties that didn't pass it will only add ammo for the antis.

We need to continue pressuring elected officials and not relying on the general population to get this passed.

>Plenty of room for you in Tejas....come on down.

I'm seriously considering it.

No, seriously, I am!

Okay, Is it feasible or even possible to gather enough pro-CC folks to file a class action lawsuit for denial of RKBA?

There is no RKBA in the Illinois Constitution. All RKBA is 'subject to the police power' . You can't be denied something you don't have.

I agree. As far as I know CCW has not passed by referendum anywhere. Millions were spent to get it passed by statewide referendum in Missouri, but it failed. CCW is not an issue that the public cares about. It's a gun culture issue. Referendums, especially advisory ones that carry no weight are a waste of precious resources. We need that money to buy votes in the state legislature. (which is how things are done here in Illinois)

You are more than welcome. When I was in the Corp my 2 best friends were from Il. Good people.

We are good down here politically (all red this election) we just need to get rid of Shelia jackson Lee in congress!

We are also working on open carry and that might happen soon. If I remember right we have more guns than people here!

"Lasalle County, IL CC referendum goes down 53% against." This was a losing battle because of the collective ignorance of the uniformed, uneducated, & unconcerned. I heard from many, including local radio personalities saying that they aren't comfortable with a bunch of hotheads running the streets potentially causing a dangerous environment (the anti-gun talking points). No one I talked to in this county even knows that 48 other states have concealed carry. Getting people informed on this issue did not get out and trying to educate people was frustrating. The county sheriff was not against it though. Generally though, the state is anti-gun because of Chicago politicians repeating daily that they need more gun laws. They fail to mention that Chicago has the strictest gun laws in the nation and the dirtbags doing the shooting are felons with already banned guns.

Leave the state , vote with your feet. Most of My family left their 20 years ago. They were fed up . Things won't change as long as the North money thief is controlling the state.

This seems counter to the Heller decision which I though affirmed the RKBA. How can a state deny that right. I'm not a lawyer so maybe I missed something.

Just move east one state, here in Indiana we are a shall issue state with a governor who stongly supports the 2nd amendment, so much that he signed a new CCW permit that is a lifetime permit, doesn't get any better than that. :)
