I am looking to get an LCP, and it's been a while since they've been released. Any idea when they will actually be available for purchase, on places like Buds? Every site I've seen still says backordered, and I have yet to see one in a physical store. Who here has purchased one from the internet, and if so, how much time did it take to actually get your order?

Don't know where you're looking but they are out there. there's a small pawn shop in Perryville, MO and he has one. My gun shop got one early on and sold it to me because I'm a good customer. Do you have a shop you've bought from that recognizes you as a good customer?

Also, as much as I LOVE my LCP, if I we're to do it all over again I might have just been happy with my Keltec P3AT. There just isn't enough difference if you have a reliable P3AT to warrant the expense. Now I have both and truthfully, I don't see too much difference. The LCP does have a better fit and finish but the grip on the P3AT is just a bit better due to the more agressive checkering.

And I do think I'd wait at this point to see what the Kahr P380 is going to be like. It'll cost more but it'll have full sights and best of all, it'll lock back after the last round and I think THATS a great benefit.

So if you can't find an LCP and don't want to wait for the P380, I'd seriously consider a new P3AT.

Merry Christmas

P-3AT - Noooooo! I gave one of those POS's away a couple years ago. I felt bad for my friend who thought he wanted it... I don't think it ever comes out of a drawer now.

Wait until you can get the Ruger LCP. The weight difference alone speaks to the better build quality of the LCP over the P-3AT. I have 150 rounds through my post-recall LCP and have had zero issues. My brother-in-law had 200+ rounds through his LCP and has no issues. These are not range gun ammo counts, but far more trouble-free rounds than my P-3AT could ever achieve.

Friends don't let friends buy P-3AT's.

I can tell you that most are on there way back to the factory, due to the recall. Ruger is looking for more uncompensated beta testors. Give some more thought to your choice of the LCP. If you find one make shure you keep the box, you will need it. orchidhunter

I've had very good luck with my Keltec P3AT, and a lot of my friends bought them after trying mine. We've all been very happy. Why pay the extra money and add the risk of a known recall?

I'm in the Baltimore area, and they could not be found for a long time. Then about four weeks ago they started showing up again locally. Last time I looked at Ruger's site the list price was $330, I believe. Well the shop I was in had four of them but wanted $450. No thanks.

I wouldn't say uncompensated

You can toss the box. They send you a new one if it goes back to the factory. The turn around has been running 7 or 8 days. It comes back with all the right stuff installed, an extra magazine and a ballcap.

No such thing as a perfect gun. Sorry. Best you can hope for is good customer service, and Ruger is among the best. Kel-tec is no slouch either, I have no problems with them, but their guns have not been exempt from issues.

$300 should buy you a spankin' new elsieP. They may come with 2 mags now. Be sure it's a 371- series or that it has a diamond mark behind the hammer.

Have not seen one in person here in NC. My brother inlaw is #19 on the waiting list at his gun store.

After Ruger has driven the price of the LCP up to the company's satisfaction. It is all price and demand. In my area the asking price is +/- $425 and some people are buying them. No thanks. There are many other mouse guns that, that are not a KelTec clone, and are far better at the same or lower price.
