It was said before I posted, but scary story. A mistake away from death. Try to calm her down. If she is anything like my girlfriend she is probable teriffied to touch a gun again.

I wanted to thank you for the post & this thread.

I reviewed (again ) our house clearing procedure using your story as an example.

She'll bunker down in the bedroom & make sure to ID target before shooting. I'll be clearing the house. Of course, after this story, note to self to announce myself before reaching bedroom door!

Luckily in my situation I am never far from my guns when I'm in my normal work around the house areas.
