Lee 6000 press

I read Lee does a "trade in" program..send a picture of your old pro 1000, they give you a deep discount of the new upgraded one.

Is this true?
Yes. From Lee Precision website - https://leeprecision.com/product-returns

"Lee Lifetime Guarantee
  • Email us a photo of your product, along with your drivers license for a 50% discount + shipping on a new product"
BTW, my review of new 2023 (Gen3) Pro 1000 (Yes, they did address all "finicky" issues including the priming system :D:thumbup:) - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/new-2023-gen3-lee-pro-1000-unboxing.916672/

Thank you!

I'm glad Lee is doing this. My old pro 1000 has been gathering dust for years. I'm going to jump in this!

Welcome to THR.

Lee offers free "self-cleaning" priming pin for the old carrier cover - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-oal-consistency.911743/page-13#post-12478009

Now Lee is shipping SPP/Pro 6000 kit with new carrier cover with "self-cleaning" priming pin sleeve that works with regular priming pin so upgraded "self-cleaning" priming pin is not necessary - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-oal-consistency.911743/page-17#post-12550727

So if you have the older carrier cover, just call Lee customer service and they will send you the upgraded "self-cleaning" priming pin.

Upgraded "self-cleaning" priming pin on the left (To be used with old carrier cover) and regular priming pin on the right (To be used with new carrier cover):

index.php

So if I got the original style carrier, they just need the newer pin, not a whole new carrier cover? I got the new pin when it first came out as an upgrade and I'm still getting sticking issues from the pin occasionally

If you have the old carrier cover, you just need the "self cleaning" priming pin.

With the "self cleaning" priming pin, you shouldn't have sticky issue. And even if you do, pushing up on the pin from bottom a few times should clear any debri in the sleeve but regular up/down motion should clear as you operate the press.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. The Six Pack Pro is my first progressive (been reloading on a rock chucker for around a year) so I've been trying to read every post in this thread. I think I have the basic setup correct, but I can feel and hear some resistance on the upstroke. Otherwise, it looks to be working just fine. This press is going to make reloading much less tedious for me.

LiveLife may have missed the part of your post I made bold.....he always has great advice. Two things from my experience with the press come to mind. First and foremost, follow Lee's directions on how to lube, what to lube, and what to lube it with........the other thing is to make sure it's aligned right for proper timing. IOW's, with your fingers...rotate the plate a little backwards and/or forwards while the ram is half way up or down in the stroke, when it can be rotated...until you feel and hear it "click" into place.

Just received the new Lee Six Pack Pro Soft Index Rod and installed it. Big improvement over the original, shell plate advances smoothly and not jerky. will help with spilled power and bullets tipping when advancing the press. Available at Lee or Titian https://www.titanreloading.com/product/lee-six-pack-pro-soft-index-rod/.

Okay......I haven't had a lot of trouble with that yet, but 9mm is one of the difficult ones to rotate round any progressive, and keep all the powder contained......and my grandsons have got me started reloading that stuff...for them and their pistols....(my smallest pistols are 2 .40 S&W's)...so guess I'll spend $10 plus taxnshipping for one, real soon now!:)..........40's are pretty short too, anyway......and it will handle .223 as well...they claim. Larger rifle is probably easier on the Pro Chucker 7 anyway.

For 9mm, try Titegroup. So little powder volume that I don't worry about spilling, but enough that double charges are obvious, which only happen when I'm messing with things. Running normally, I've never had a charge problem. I will have to toss a soft index rod into the next order for pistol rounds. Probably still help with the occasional bullet falling off.

I couldn't help myself and tried 308 rifle on my six pack. It works great, though I do run two cycles. One to size and one for loading after trimming etc.. I have dies coming for 223, and am printing feeder parts for it, so I will find out how it does with those.
