Lee APP - Pros & Cons

Yes, they're Dillon, so costly. They're very proud of their stuff. But the decapping die has a delayed spring loaded feature which is kind of nice.
Most of my stuff is previously decapped so when I hear it "pop" I pull that brass out to see why it wasn't previously decapped and tumbled with a blank primer pocket.
I did swap out the crimp die for a Redding though, I just really like their quality control and attention to detail.
I’m going to start doing a decap then clean. I can get a little lazy, especially when I’m doing 2,000 9mm with a single stage

My roller handle came today for my app press. Didn't time to install it though.
I'm making mounting kits for the 2 APP's that I bought to mount them on the Hornady Quick Mount system. Bought only one roller handle conversion though.
The mounts I made are 2x6 wood, sandwiched between the mounting plate and the press, but I will paint them black after priming to look all tactical and stuff.
Wish I knew where to find PVC plate stock locally though.

When you take out the phillips screws, that attach to the die holder, don't loose the plastic nuts that are up inside the bottom of the upper die holder.
They like to fall out when the screws are removed. I found one of mine in my scrap brass bucket, I didn't know it fell out.

Yeah I bought a 2nd as well for that price plus free shipping from Midway.
Is this a sign that things are finally turning around?
When primers are unavailable and still $90 a brick what's the sense in buying reloading equipment? Prices are going down because people aren't spending money on stuff they won't be able to use until a year from now.

I have some primers, so when the Auto Breech Lock progressive goes down in price I will get one. For now... I can play the waiting game, been playing it all my life.

ooooh yeah, look out for deal and steals. Guns too!

The only Problem I have now is an upside down case now and then, more now than then so I will be drilling out a dime and putting it in the center hole of the collator to slow down the drop of the cases into the tube.
I just deprimmed about 1200 9mm cases and the upside down cases was the only problem I have to deal with now, so I am very happy.

What I did to the Lee collator is just press a thin wall clear tube in each of the four holes to reduce the hole size for 9mm....then it dropped 100% base down. But that was before I discovered and bought a 3D printer and made me three cheap and effective case and bullet collators.....for less than the cost for one Dillon. Of course you have to buy a 3d printer......but then I've found no limit to what I can build for reloading with a $20 roll of PLA plastic, so that's a purchase that keeps on giving. ;)

As for deals and steals.....3D printers are doing that too.

I need to look into 3D printing, print me a new wife!

Got the handle installed. I did not see any plastic nuts. I had some steel ones on the back. I used a wrench to hold them as i loosened the bolts. But ill go double check and see if any fell out from the Phillips ones. I ran a batch of 9mm brass through. I like the new handle.

You can probably wrap a pvc tube around the original handle and and a cheap version of a rolling handle

They are up in the holes under the die head on both sides.

Yours may not have fallen out.

The screws tightened well. So probably not. I locked shop up for tonight. I'll take a peek underneath tomorrow anyway. The screw on the right was a bear to break loose. The left one was real easy.

never tried Dillon dies, are they pricey?

IMHO, Dillon pistol dies are THE way to go. Can disassemble a die, while still in the press, by pull an extended E clip - have a problem, easy to solve at the moment.

In terms of sizing, Dillon seems to have their pistol die specifications perfect.

I’m going to buy a set or at-lease the sizing die to tru
