Anyone here familiar with this tool? The Lee Auto Prime 2, other than it is a discontinued item and Lee does not support it any longer.

I just acquired one but it is missing the spring/springs for the anvil pins. What I need is a reference to length and diameter so I can try and source a replacement. I was able to take the anvil spring from my Lee Pro1000 primer and it seems to be working ok. I know all it is is a return spring to push the pin down when the ram is lowered so the next primer can flow into position.

After using this for a little bit on some 223 brass I don't understand why Lee Discontinued this thing. I think it works much better than the Safety Prime setup.

The difference is that pesky word safety! This one does not have a primer block to stop a sympathetic detination of the remaining primers if the one being inserted were to detonate. So now we are theoretically safer. I still have a couple of the round hand primers and they work well after all these years.

Frogo that to me is what doesn't make sense as the Pro1000 still uses that same basic design. For some god forsaken reason it just works for me!
Now to find a suitable spring.
