Its a discontinued on press priming station similar to the ram prime but with an auto primer feed as well.

LOOKS like I can get all the parts to build one from lee as "spare parts".

Anyone ever use one? Good, Bad, Ugly?

I have yet to find the perfect priming system. Everyone I've tried has had it's issues. That said, of everything I've used so far, Auto Prime II is my favorite. It's a shame Lee doesn't make it anymore. I got mine used at my LGS about a year ago, I think it was $9.00, turned out to be a good investment.

My #1 complaint is that the last few primers in the tray need to be pushed through in order for it to work. They don't weight enough for gravity feed to work reliably. It's annoying but not a huge deal just use a toothpick or something similar to slide them.

I don't know if you can buy all the spare parts to assemble a new one yourself, but worst case scenario you can just get a used one on Ebay or something.

Hope this helps.

Edited to add:

Found a couple of links that might be helpful. First is the Auto Prime II manual:

Second is the midway page. Product is discontinued so you can't buy it, but you can still read the reviews and see what other people have to say about it:

I sometimes find it less frustrating to use the Lee hand primer tool even though i have a progressive press.

rskent.. It would be as fast as my old hand primer. Takes me about 3 seconds a piece of brass to swage on the press, no reason it would take longer to prime using the exact same type of setup.

These RCBS inserts for their bench primer make the Auto Prime II PERFECT, if you remember to tap the chute now and then to keep the primers moving.

A little off topic but Im pretty fond of the RCBS APS strips. Hadnt ran into any quirks yet from that unit.

do they make a press mounted aps priming solution? I dont think I'd get the hang of loading the aps strips... which is the reason I want the autoprime II - dump in primers, shake, mount prime...

The lee presses have adjustable angles on the handle, so I set my swager so that it is just below the surface of the shell holder. I move my ram maybe 1/4" and the handle about 2". The auto prime looks like it'll require a little more movement, but my press is really good at handling stuff at the top of the ram repeatedly. That was one of two reasons I went with the lee vs. the rcbs press, other being spent primer handling

Lee discontinued the old auto prime and came out with the newer version which has a larger square plastic primer holder. I like the older design better as in the new model it seems a bit shorter and the plastic top is too thin. They also said they make another type but it's costs more. I liked the older one way better.

joe.. thats the hand primers.. I like the xtp because it is the perfect size for a sleeve of 100 primers. I'm talking their press mounted one that worked like a ram prime with the old auto prime like primer magazine/flip tray

hmmm, press mounted, ram prime system with a flipper tray. Lots to despise about the Safety prime.

pics of the AutoPrime II

Still my favorite system after 20 years, one is almost always mounted on a Lee Reloader Press on my bench!
