Good advice all around.

I placed my orders last night.

Kempf Kit w/ Classic Turret Press (9mm upgraded version)

Lee Carbide Pistol Dies (.38/.357)

Lee Carbide Pistol Dies (.45 ACP)

Frankford Arsenal Impact Bullet

Lee 4 Hole, Classic 4 Hole Turret Press Turret

Lyman "49th Edition Reloading Handbook" Reloading Manual Hardcover

Frankford Arsenal Micro Reloading Electronic Powder Scale

No bullets or anything to prep my once-fired brass for reloading. I figure I need to get really comfortable with the reloading manual first.

You're off to a good start, I think. A couple of tips--

Consider calling Kempf's to change the order slightly:

1. Add a balance-beam scale (I like the Lee; many don't) and consider NOT getting the digital. (There's better ones for less, if you still want one).

2. Make sure you have an Adjustable Charge Bar with the Pro Auto Disk Package.

3. I'm assuming you ordered two extra turrets--e.g., one each for the 38/357 and .45ACP die sets. If not, get those--or at least tell the SO they can be a stocking stuffer.

Personally, I would also add a couple of (Wilson) MAX cart gauges, but you can get by with your chambers.

Any other questions, feel free to ask.

The kit comes with a pro auto disk package. Not sure about the charge bar though. The site is not responding right now, so I can't check.

Yes, I ordered two extra turrets.

Thanks for the advice though.

RCBS 505 scale. Ditch the cheapo digital. If you go digital, buy quality.

Dial Caliper, if you don't have one already. More important than a puller by far.

Harbor Freight has good ones cheap. I use mine all the time. The display is easy for my old eyes to read.

You are off to a very good start though.

Thanks for the link to the caliper. I had forgotten about that.

I'm about to my limit, so I'll make due with what I have. When it all gets here and I get it set up, I'll memorize the reloading manual and go from there.

Deer Hunter, Boy are you gonna like your setup. ;) I bought the same outfit from Kempf in January. I was going to use Midway or Cabella's, as they have the same setups, but often they are out and back ordered. The good people at Kempf did right by me. The Charge Bar: It's a $10 item that'll allow you to tweak your 45acp loads. It works with your Pro Auto Disk Powder Dispenser. It will not work for small charges, like the 380acp. Good luck to you. The semi-progressive press is a great way to load! Let us know how everything turns out.

Great press and Kempf is GREAT people. I ordered this package from them about a year ago - I do 9mm, 45 and 38/357 now and am about to get into Rifle.

They are fantastic people to deal with and their prices are great - their kit is complete and it's nice to talk to someone who reloads on the phone instead of a monkey at a big store.

I got my first midway order in today. I'm reading the Reloading manual's instructions as I type.

Bad timing. Four exams coming up....

I've been using the Classic 4 hole turret for a while now and I really like it. So far I have only reloaded 223 but soon I will be loading 308. One thing that helps me is that I use a single stage press as well for decapping and swaging. I use the turret press as a single stage when sizing, I size all my brass at one time and then tumble to get the lube off.

Have fun!
