At least we agree on one thing.

Indeed, but I will do my best to find the details and post them here.

I try not to make unsubstantiated claims like "Sierra Proved Decades ago..." without at least trying to find the facts.

Speaking of facts, have you tested the Lee factory Crimp die in Your semi-auto rifles and would you care to share your test results?

holy crap. Look how my little thread has grown.
Yeah, but it will soon be locked.

Bart hasn't posted since Sunday, so we are allowed to continue this discussion.

Once he returns and informs us (again) that he does not use the LFCD so therefor it is evil and cannot work as claimed, then Walkalong will step in and close the thread as always giving brother Bart the last word.

@Reloadron
You were correct about the time frame in which the FCD was released. I sent an email to Lee asking about the introduction date and they answered my question the next day.
Lee Customer Service:
...we introduced the Rifle Factory Crimp Dies with the Collet Style Crimp to the public in 1991. The patent was approved in 1992, but filed prior to that.
It's been around longer than I thought.

Thanks for taking the time to ask Lee. I just wasn't sure but wanted to say early 90s.

So, Richard Lee actually did "Invent" the Lee Factory Crimp die as he was issued a patent .

...and this post is in error.

Would we really call it Lee's Invention? I have some LC manufacture 30-06 ammunition laying around here. Some are '63 Match and some are just plain LC ammunition. The match ammunition does not use a collet type crimp but the standard GI ammunition does use a collet crimp as well as some foreign made stuff I have. The poing here is that the use of a collet type crimp was nothing new when Lee released his FCD, factory ammunition was using a collet crimp long before the Factory Crimp Die was rele3ased to the hand loading community.

That's what they say. Never saw a patent # or patent data on any of my FCDs but I guess he got a patent. That does not mean he invented the process, only a way of going about it. Now, why don't you let this go? The shot at Walkalong was totally uncalled for. Stop the baiting and try growing up. People can decide to take or leave the die and every time the FCD is mentioned you come up with the same routine. Lee is a poor victim rather than the businessman he actually is. Let it go.

I guess 5 pages is enough this time around. Everyone got to make their points.
